Racing the boat is cool. But spending time with friends, family, and generally just enjoying life is the best part.

So last weekend was kinda insane. I think there ended up being 10 or 12 boats with damage, two boats flipped over, just about everyone broke including me. Nobody seemed to be able to drive for **** (except me, i was driving fantastic). There was something in the air for sure. I broke both front motor mounts, which also support the weight of the boat during lifting. So that stopped me for the weekend.

In this video. Dave decides he's going to cut me off, drive around the outside of the outside start / finish line buoy and then back on the course. I don't make it one lap around and Mark flat spun his boat at 100mph (outside the course mind you) and decides he's going to fire back up. He's heading straight towards me and these boats don't turn at low / idle speed. I shut almost completely down. Red flag goes up, i shut down completely. At 3:30 i ask my radio man why he is still driving under red flag. He decides to drive around for one more lap with a red flag until he stopped outside of the course. That got him booted for the weekend.

This is all under warm up, 5 minute countdown. Nobody is "racing".

There isn't much past 4:30.

I have a few more videos coming. I am editing them up now.

I am pulling the engine soon. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see how i feel.

Also working on pictures. Here are a couple off my phone, racing stopped for this.

I just spotted this thread - here's the 1957 Glastron Fireflite that I'm slowly restoring. 1957 was the first year of Glastron production and this is serial number 75.

Bought this puppy yesterday. 550 hp/tq, 500 ci of american Caddilac power! Does about 35 mph. Hopefully more like 50 in the snow, because we dont have swamps in Va.

The actual reason for purchase: I need to make a LOT of wind for some upcoming tests, and this seemed to be the most economical way to make simulated 100 mph wind destruction.

How much did that bad boy cost? Are you just going to keep it on the trailer to do the test?

about 7k. we will most likely leave it on the trailer for testing so that I can back it up against a huge honey comb structure, to straighten the air out as much as possible

The Great Dismal Swamp is in Virginia and the eastern shore has miles of salt flats and such.

Raced last weekend.
Went and won both classes. 5l and 2.5 modified.

First time winning overall points period, first time winning a final(5l), then went and took overall points for 2.5m(finished 2nd in the final) for icing on the cake.
I'm still absolutely stoked. Boat was dead nuts reliable. I'm turning 6300rpm in an otherwise "stock" 305 SBC built in my garage with a harbor freight torque wrench.

I don't have any decent photos, i do have this video. Skip to 3:30 for roughly the start of the race, i pretty much nailed the start, 3 other boats were sleeping. 2 boats that came out never made the start. That's a national mod next to me, probably capable of 140 when i don't think i can get much over 100. He was the only NM so they combined classes.

To be clear we did start with 7 boats in 5l and 9 boats in 2.5m. Call it attrition, winning is winning.

End of season. Race boat is already put up, ski boat getting shrink wrapped tomorrow.
I podiumed literally every final i was in this year. I actually got a second place finish in a race with the NM boats, which is pretty much an unrestricted class and most fun. Boats that are absolutely no match for my class limited 305 mod.
As of right now i finished 6th in 5l class and 9th in 2.5m class overall in the nation. Fantastic considering i miss about 20 races during the summer.

That's great. I know you get a lot of stress at work so I'm glad you do have a good place to let it out.

What do boats like yours sell for? What kind of value is there in them?
