Default What to buy

I know there have been a few threads about this lately, but I am thinking about selling my 1000rr and getting a new daily. I need a dry and more comfortable way of getting to and from work.......getting old. I want to spend about $10,000 and have reasonably affordable insurance. I would like to have 4 doors and make about 200 whp with not little to no extra $$ invested. I'm thinking an 03 or older WRX is the way to go. I am very open to other cars though. No Hondas, been there done that! I am also wife-less so I can do and buy whatever I want!! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Another WRX vote, only because I want a Subaru right now and can't afford a new car at the moment.

I REALLY suggest you add about 2k more to that and get an 04-05 wrx. Better brakes, better transmission, better interior, and better front/rear fascias. If you want a ton of room also just get it in wagon form.
Great car, I absolutely loved my 05, with just turboback exhaust and tune it made 240whp, ran low 13's, and most importantly was an absolute pleasure to drive around town and on long trips.
Even better than that were my 06-07 wrx's, but then you'd better have at least 16k

I absolutely love subarus. I have yet to meet someone that owned one that hated it.

I'd be looking for a IS300. Maybe not the fastest thing...but they're great cars and for a nice DD, it wouldn't be as tempting to drop too much cash into since once you do a good intake/exhaust/tune/wheels/suspension...you're pretty much done.

Test drove the IS, 3 series, and G35 when a friend was looking for a car last year. I liked all three but the IS felt the slowest. Other than that it came down to price/condition.

Dude, since you mentioned the 3 series, I think there are a ton of BMWs ftw right in that price range. In my local want ad right now, there are many E36s way below your price range, with the 2.8. That would leave you plenty of bux to ring up bimmerworld or turner and get some exhaust and suspension parts. Or if you want to pimp, you can get a 5 or 7, still in your price range. This is def where I would be, I could finally stretch out in a sporty car!

I forgot all about these! I drove my friends mazdaspeed 3 HB a few years ago and loved it. I think the Mazdaspeed 6 is more what Im looking for. They are right in the price range too!!

Mazda : Mazda6:eBay Motors (item 150378626947 end time Oct-14-09 09:33:40 PDT)

They just arent as sexy as the WRX. The foresters are looking better and better the more I look at them.

I was looking at a few bimmers but anything I was interested in was way out of my price range!! I really want a 5 series AWD, I believe its the Xi model. I found a few IS300s, G35s, and some M3s but they are just too expensive. My target mileage is about 80-90,000 miles. The WRX just seems to be the best bang for the buck!!

Or it will cost 3 times as much as it does now...only at auctions.

ON TOPIC:

With all the recent "what to buy" ads...I'd really like to go get a Subaru myself. My wife hates wagons though...and has recently discovered the IS300. She loves it...which works since I've always wanted to tune one. As soon as I gradumacate...
