What do you guys suppose this is?

Doesn't have to be bombers, in fact, it's very rare to see large groups of large military aircraft travelling together anymore, even CONUS. However, it's very likely that it's a group of military jets (fighters or whatever) travelling together somewhere. With long transits, they'll need to stay close'ish together to make it easier for ATC, and so they can all hit the tanker in close succession.

When we go out, our C130s generally head out in groups like that. Although I don't believe they cross paths that often. Then again, I'm not watching where we go, too busy making sure the loadmasters strapped the comm down right and keeping our newbies from puking their brains out.

Was in the smokey mountains over the weekend. Saw 4 airplanes flying extremely close at a very high altitude. I'm talking formation, at 30,000 feet easily. Never saw anything like it before in my life.
All i have are the trails.
They were gone very fast, moving at a much faster rate than a commercial jet. They were over my head, and then the trails ended and in less than a minute they were out of sight.
What sucks about it is, i was at the top of clingmans dome, one of the highest points in the smokeys. Had i stayed another 10 minutes i would have gotten good pictures/video.
