dbw is amazing if you can tune it to your liking
it sucks if you can't because most oem's set it up to be really funky i love it on my subaru's |

Question to those who have a manual car with a drive by wire throttle. Is it just me or is there a lag between letting go of the gas and the engine actually responding?
My 540i doesn't do that, but it does something equally annoying: - doesn't respond to throttle blips when rev matching a downshift - I have to step then wait a bit, then it revs to the moon, making it nearly impossible to rev-match smoothly. I think the 540i did that so that when you step on the gas in-gear, it smooths out the lurch. Why they didn't differentiate a situation when you're in neutral, fuck knows. |
At least thats better than the 2013 wrx/sti. You CANNOT apply any meaniful throttle when the brake is pressed. Hey mother fuckers this is a mother fucking rally car how the fuck do you moher fucking left foot brake when the mother fucking unintended acceleration nanny doesn't let you. Shit.

Your complaint has to do with emissions reduction, by slowing down the rate at which the throttle closes.

Mine does the same thing you describe as well. There is a sizable delay when blipping. I got used to it after I over shot my intended RPM several times but I was truly expecting for DBW to be at least as good as a regular pedal. It's definitely got a mind of its own. This is the first DBW manual car I have driven and even before now I had preconceived notions of potential problems with DBW with a manual. Not having actually read about any complaints I figured it was just me over analyzing. But I am very surprised. Yes I can get used to it, but seriously? |
1200 miles later I can't find a single thing to complain about. Well maybe the seat. It's a little narrow for me. I am hoping it will break in a bit with time or my ass gets smaller.
320 miles between fillups runs me $75 which is still hard to get used too but worth every penny. |
