I'll be using the 10 inch Asus for HP Tuners. You can change the resolution with a button to cram all the crap on the screen.

I do think sometimes a bigger laptop is better for tuning in a car. It's sitting in the pax seat most of the time anyway. I bought the netbook to take on flights and use around the house too.

So 1024x600 isnt enough to be able to tune? I used 1024x768 for years on my old computer and 17'' monitor. Cant see how a netbook wouldnt be able to run something like megatune because of the resolution.

Fmowry... You do make a good point about the screen being adjustable to make everything fit on the 1000-series netbooks by Asus. I'm just a little concerned about shock resistance and such as I plan to use it around the track to datalog and tune based on my Innovate LC-1 readings. Also, concerned about it running the Microtech and Innovate software at the same time. Hopefully the 2GB RAM I ordered will help with that. Guess we will see.

my 9" screen is running at 1024x600. It's perfectly fine for MS.

This problem is apparently unique to the Hydra Nemesis tuning software, which gets cut off on small screens. MegaTune scales properly to just about any size, and does not have this problem.

Here's a shot of MT running on the EeePC 1000 I bought for my sister. As you can see, it fits perfectly:

It works just as well on the 800x480 display of the Eee701 and the 1024x600 display of the 901. You can simulate it on your own machine by just scaling down the Megatune window to the appropriate size.


Then get one of the models that use an SSD instead of a physical hard drive.


I wouldn't worry- most ECU tuning apps are peanuts relative to a modern processor. I run MegaTune on a 233Mhz P3 with 128 MB of RAM, and it's quite happy even if I have Internet Explorer open in the background.

Good. I would have been a bit pissed if I found out for what ever reason it didnt scale correctly. Should make a sleak and kick ass computer for tuning. Black glossy case to store in the passanger seat rear pocket while not used.

That's what I was hoping to hear! I've read that netbooks are not good for much since they are primarily for the web (which I don't get cuz they list specs the same way all the bigger ones do and they look great.) The Aspire one doesn't give you any issues? If not I'm going to pick on up today!

It's a 17" monster, but it goes with me nearly everywhere (school, work, home) anyways, so why not?

I finally got my own laptop it's Toshiba A45 s120.
Got it for free from a lady I work with, she couldnt figure out was wrong with it so she gave it to me.
New HDD and upgraded to 2GB ram for about $100
Also bought a serial to usb adapter
Now all it needs is some WIFI action.

Awesome! Glad to see somebody finally got one of the newer Fujis. How do you like the numeric & cursor keys section on the right? That's the one thing I've always felt would make mine complete.

I must admit that I have yet to hook it up to the car tonight. Found the USB to serial drivers et al so that should be a breeze. I will report back...

I've been soooo tempted to steal it and keep it under the passenger seat.

Tuning with the LT C-500 is great. It's plenty fast for tuning and logging. MLV is slower but works unless you run for an hour. It would be nice if the keypad was backlit for tuning when it's dark (interior lights don't work in my car).
