IMHO, you already have your sportscar. I'd be curious to see what someone with your intellect for things automotive and motivation could do with regards to ecomodding a CRX HF or Insight. I'm thinking 100mpg wouldn't be unimaginable.

Well, now that I've left Florida, I suppose an update is in order. It's not been quite a year (hard to believe- seems like it's been a lifetime) but here we are...

The floor has held up admirably. No damage whatsoever that I can see as a result of warm tires, dragging my floor jack (with metal wheels) across it, setting jackstands upon it, dropping tools onto it, etc. It's also quite easy to clean up spilled oil, coolant, etc., from. One thing I've noticed is that if you spill methanol onto it, it causes the surface to discolor somewhat (it becomes lighter), however this effect seems to disappear after a while. I've no idea whether it causes any lasting harm to the surface, but it doesn't seem to.

I also found the surface to not be objectionably slippery when wet. They sell a gritty compound which you can mix into the paint to effect a non-slip surface, however I never had a problem walking across it. dry or wet, in rubber-soled boots, socks, or just my bare feet.

All in all, I've been very happy with the surface treatment. Its relatively light color and high gloss brightens up the garage considerably, and although I worried about this early on, I didn't find that the random flake-pattern gave me any difficulty at all locating screws, sockets, etc., after dropping them.

Yeah, it was actually not terribly well organized in those pictures. I inherited a lot of mess along with that garage. After those pictures were taken, I properly organized the pegboard, moved the generator inside and parked a small air compressor where it was, gave away the deep freezer, moved the fridge and the folding table leaning against it to the back patio, installed another shelf where the fridge was, and parked the engine crane, build stand, etc., where the deep freezer was.

By the end, I'd finally stopped missing my garage in Carlsbad, and started loving that one. The lighting, in particular, was fabulous.
