Jon Lajoie is bloody amazing! if there's one thing I should be proud about living in Montreal, it's that we both live in the same city haha. That man is full of win, I hope I can see him live one day.

This is so pitiful because the loser actually things he is saying something. I'm actually feeling I've lost a bit of mental acuity for having heard it. Thanks.

I've never heard quadraphonic audio, but I've heard of it. Come to think of it, I haven't actually heard the term in years. You would think that with the digital age upon us as it is this would have made a resurgence. Surround must be considered the modern equivalent, but doesn't actually have four distinct channels of sound in the same way.

They had some real jam sessions back in the day. I really like other albums of theirs much better.

The solos played throughout the "Burn" album were intense, and most of the songs were played with drumming by Ian Paice (as in Paice brand cymbals) as intensely as if he was playing a drum solo the whole song. What stamina! I even like the very seventies sounding Hammond Organ riffs that were jammed out by John Lord. He was seriously intense, too. And David Coverdale was as strong a frontman as anybody had back then.

Follow the drummer throughout this one. Tuff stuff for 1974.

The passion in this one:

The driving bass line:

The only shows I have seen that were quadraphonic (four-channel) was that Texas Jam, and Pink Floyd. When Blackmore was doing his big solo they were 'spinning' it around the stadium (fading between channels in a circular pattern). It sounded pretty cool.

There is a new version (or was, not catching on) of quadraphonic (old school term) called SACD which is a 5.1 channel mix with a higher than CD sampling rate. It takes a special player but sounds amazing on a decent system. Pink Floyd DSOTM SACD is really fantastic, like discovering it all over again. 5.1 DVD mixes are available too.

Word on Deep Purple. They rocked. Made In Japan is a great live album. I am partial to Gillian, plus his work on Born Again (Sabbath) is fantastic.

Thanks to Joe and his post https://www.miataturbo.net/insert-bs-here-4/fuel-line-de-icer-now-mildly-nws-46222/ I've had this damn song in my head for the past two days...

rweatherford 04-17-2010 01:22 AM

Just wanted to mention that my dad had a Quadraphonic record player with records and I actually still owned it up till about 1997. Sounded pretty cool for 1970's stuff. Even had an 8 track which I used a ton as a kid.

Yea I guess I'm that old.

That was very confusing. Was it a soccer game, a dance video on the street, or a dancer in the studio? What happened when the old man got hit with the soccer ball? I guess I will have to wait for part two...

Alright, I know this alot of music but, it is what I constantly have in my head. And today, these are the specifics.

Please only listen to this with a good set of head phones or some good quality speakers.

I <3 Metal

ICS Vortex is one of my favorite bass players of all time. I would absolutely kill to be able to play like that and sing with such powerful vocals.

Can't go wrong with a little COF!

Bryce 04-26-2010 02:21 AM

I recently bought an SACD and DVD-Audio Player. The sound it produce truly is amazing. Obviously I bought the Pink Floyd SACD first.

When not at home, I'll typically tune my Blackberry into the Indie Electronic set on Slacker.

I always check my headphone chord for connectivity when I hear this song.

Catchy melodies FTW.

Slightly off topic but have any of you guys tried hypster.com? It's like a social website/music site where you can search a song or artist and make playlists and it grabs all of the songs from online sources like youtube. It has skins and all that shit so you can embed a player in Facebook/myspace etc.

No affiliation aside from me gambling/trading penny stocks and it was one I actually bought a few shares of. I figured it was a pump and dump but the website is pretty good for loading up a bunch of songs at work without having a copy on my local drive.

You're too lazy and too much of a pussy to even post the real name of the song that is in your head.

NA6C-Guy 06-03-2010 04:14 AM

If any of you are fans of classical stuff, or piano/violin, then you must hear. Yoshiki of the Japanese group X Japan on piano, one of the greatest pianists in Asia (and the world in my opinion) along with Sugizo, formerly of Luna Sea, recruited to X Japan in the last few years, on violin, one of the best guitarists and violinists in Asia (again in the world). Those two playing together has been a dream of mine for years, it's a perfect match I think. Beautiful original piece, and it's great to see that some hard rock artists are actually musicians, not just stage props that can "play". At the end the lead singer of the band comes on and ruins the mood. His voice is nearly used up from 20+ years of yelling at the top of his lungs at concerts.

Another

And some weird short film thing with just Sugizo, really showing off his violin skills.

I like to listen to this shit after a long day just to calm my nerves down, having spent all day wanting to murder all of my coworkers.

viperormiata 06-03-2010 11:15 AM

Thank you so much for posting those videos. I have to agree that I did not enjoy the singer coming in and utterly standing out like a sore thumb.

That third video is fantastic. I've listened to it for the past hour while doing homework.

:bigtu:

Here bees another. Sugizo with his old band Luna Sea, one of their slower songs, but I love it. Their live performances are almost always as good or better than their albums. The whole band is excellent at what they do.

viperormiata 06-03-2010 05:49 PM

I'm getting ready to move and go to school at UCF. So I decided to pull out all of my old games and consoles to sell.

I changed my mind, I kept them all :) Especially since I found my original copies of Rocket Knight Adventures and Final Fantasy-vii(sells for about 200 bucks btw)

Do they? I've let one of my old copies go to shit in a desk drawer. Jewel case is cracked and the CD's are scratched.

viperormiata 06-03-2010 06:33 PM

Ooooh yeah they do. Games like FF7 and Parasite Eve are worth ALOT of money. Alot of people who got into gaming from the classics are super pissed with how shitty most new games are. So the old ones coming back in style and every one wants them.

Even if your game is scratched and what not, it is still probably worth more than 80 bucks. As long as it still works, lol.

It sells for $9.99 on my PS3. Never played it. Debating buying that or the expansion pack for CODMW2.

I bought it off the PS3 Network too. Basically so I don't risk fucking up my original copy. Also, it is most definatalely worth playing but, is very, very long. Expect, idk, close to 90-100 hours if it's your first time playing through.

I'm on the fence as well about the MW2 expansion. Buy it and let me know if it's worth it, lol.

Anyway, faithfully by journey, stuck in my head for 3 fucking days!:vash:
