Yes. Should be next weekend that I get it out.
I'm going with the v8roadsters.com kit. I like the fact that a brand new CTS diff is ~650. And the diff is lighter than the 8.8 Ford.
The only other kit right now is the racing concepts kit (shown in the fire!). They didn't handle that situation very well and that soured me towards their kit though it's cheaper.
I'm trans hunting now. If anyone has a line on an LS1 F-body or GTO T56 lemme know. They're quite pricey.

I've got engine-swap-envy. I think Tacoma Tim live somewhere near you. He was like one of the LS Miata swap pioneers. I heard bad things about the CTS diffs. Search youtube for CTS racing and you'll see a few videos of the cars rolling off the line after a snap. Of course being 1000# lighter may be all the difference you need.

Word of advice...leave the engine alone. The stock power is more than enough. Tim stroked his LS6 to a 383. I will say that 430rwtq in a Miata is too much. Spinning tires at will in 4th gear makes your cheeks clinch just a little.

I hope you understand what you are getting yourself into. Tim lives a few miles from me. I have driven his beast a few times and have to say that it is the scariest car I have ever driven. Being a track and autocross instructor, I have driven a lot of fast cars. Tim's car is by far the fastest I have ever driven. I would kill myself in it if I owned it.

The new part number for the CTS diff avoids the problems. I'm well aware of the high hp "issues". I had a turbo and nitrous'ed Miata that made 282 to the wheels. It was squirelly but not unamanageable and I have better wheels/tires now. I had a 410 whp Forester XT and I never got in trouble. I don't drive like a retard on the road. I'm 40 years old now with a 4 year old kid. To tell you the truth, half the fun of these cars is building them. It'll be a nice car to show off, a good car on mpg for my golf outings, fun to light 'em up if I need to, and a unique conversation piece. Given the money I'll recoup when I sell the engine/trans/diff/ECU/turbo, and the money I paid for the car, I won't lose money if I build this and sell it for $18K or so if need be.

ha I met that guy back in sept when I went to a daytone miata meet. We all went to a DYNO and if I remember correctly he DYNO'd around 280 to the wheels. The motor was stock then, donno if it is now.
