As some of you know I live in the Caribbean. One of the bad things of living in third world countries is how inefficient things are.

We're involved in a discussion on this subject here and I would like to get some answers from those who have homes and have 4 or more people living in that home over there.

In my particular case; I use an average of 1,100 kwh per month and my cost per kwh is: US$0.2381 per Kwh.

I'd like to get some input from different areas within the US (I've already contacted people in Spain and other Latin American countries).

This question is not so much what yor monthly energy bill is but more what you pay per kwh and how many kwh/month you use.

Houston, Tx. Flat rate of 13.9 kw/h, Stream Energy. Usual around here is 12.9-16.9

 

Im always in the $300 neighborhood. 3/2 with a pool.

I'm I reading your info right? Do you use over 2,500 kwh/month? I ask because part of the local argument is that the electric meters are tricked but if I understand you correctly, your consumption is more than double mine.

I presume a big chunk of the difference between the kwhs/month used by you and those used by me must be due to the fact that we only use 1 A/C (a 24,000 BTU unit on my bedroom) and only for 9 hours a day.

 

Guys, I know it's a hassle and I do appreciate your replies but I also need to get a sense of Kwh/month consumption. Whenever you get the chance to check your bill; just think about this thread!

The biggest issue locally is not the fact that our current energy rate is highway robbery but how does our local Kwh/month consumption compare to that of other countries.

120-180 bucks with 14.3 cents a kw.

 

My power bill is usually 50bux a month..No pool lol

 

Stream Energy is the provider. They just sell the energy the actual company that supplies it is Centerpoint.

 

Don't know if this helps since i'm in an apartment. It a 1200sq ft apartment, energy star certified or whatever that means. 1100 max during summer 550 low during winter. Unless you are without power for 3 weeks because of a damn huricane then its 280.

 

$0, Uncle Sam picks up the tab.

 

Don't have the bill in front of me, but I average 450 kw*hrs per month with electric HW heater, electric heat, no gas, 540 sq. foot house, no incandescent lighting. I live cheap.

 

It usually hovers around 1750kwh per month.

We have a big, 15 seer heat pump outside. My Trane A/C system is only 1.5 years old. I cant remember the tonnage, but it is about 5ft tall. Based on my energy audits it accounts for 52.9% of my electric cost.

It sure helps. Can anyone convert the 1200sq ft to square meters. I have a 330 square meters apartment myself and as I posted before I average about 1,100 kwh/month.

 

Pat; those 450 kwhs/month is for you living on your own? Because if that is the case, I beat your cheapness.

We are way down in the bottom 10% of the US with sub-$.08/kwh rates.

 

Damn. Yeah, that's me living on my own. I say average. I run 350-400 kw*h /month in the spring and fall. Summer 400-450, winter 500-550. Average is around 450, maybe a bit lower. I swear I think my stereo system is sucking down 100 kw*h/month. My consumption used to be lower. Also, do you have electric heat and hot water heater?

Also 1 square meter = 10.76 square feet. So you live in a a 3229 square foot apartment and use less power than me?
