What's your preferred driving shoe?
This is a weird post but sombody has got to make it. I have trouble driving with dress shoes, running shoes, and boots. They always get caught on the carpet when I let go of the clutch. The only shoes I use now are pumas that look like racing shoes.

Puma's or bare foot.
G-force high tops when it gets serious. |
|
I just got some pilotis (prototipo), used them on the track at barber motorsports park this week and I really liked them. No experience with any others.
|
On the street i wear sandals. Gay I don't care, I'm from Florida. On the track I wear Nike Sbs.
I think driving with sandals taught me how to drive. Don't want to scrap my foot on grip tape pedals. Heel toe is clean as fuck. :D |
I love my Doc martens. Combat boots suck. I have some speed cats, i like the Martens better. I can drive like hell in flip flops. I have actually autocrossed a few events in flops, until they said i needed closed toed shoes. Anything with a thick sole sucks because i cant feel the pedals.
|
I wear these. You can feel the pedals and they are very comfortable.http://www.zappos.com/images/754/754...-920333-p.jpg?

+1 for Pilotis. I have some older Reebok driving shoes that served me well for 4-5 autocross seasons, but they were too narrow to wear all the time. My Pilotis are much more comfortable.
|
Which ever ones I have on? Which is usually a set of Onitsuka Tigers.

Guessing and precision driving don't mix.

I don't recall the OP bringing up precision driving. Of course then you would want something other than dress shoes or boots. I'm talking in terms of daily driving like 95% of the time is spent for most people here.

Chuck Taylors.
My worn Panama-soled desert boots are surprisingly good too |
I have a pair of the Piloti Prototipo, but I prefer flat bottomed Vans
|
I have Puma Speedcats. Very nice to modulate brakes with.
Since they are trendy 'scenester' shoes you can usually pick them up cheap at urban clothing stores, mine were $40. Or even cheap karate shoes would work. |
+1 on Speedcats. I have two pairs.
|
I'd like to buy a pair of speedcats I just hate how narrow Pumas are. Maybe after time I would get used to it?
