Hey, I'll kick you in the gonads for only $195.95. That doesn't even cover air-fare for me to get out there. It's a HELL of a deal.

Ok, I see where this is going. Alright, IF your girlfriend co-signs.... I'll kick you in the gonads, as hard as I can, for... $40 and $5 a month thereafter for the next 36 months.

And for only $1.25 more a month, I'll wear my big heavy steel toe boots.

<edit>
These are friend prices, don't spread it around.

No **** you have bad credit. I doubt anyone here is surprised.

What was it? 16k spent? Nothing I saw in your sig was worth anywhere close to that kind of money.

So you obliviously have a history of poor purchases.

And PS, your sig is annoying. Nobody cares about your "**** Turbo."

credibility in what sense?
i mean, i spent $16k on my car... who the hell cares where that money went? i earned it and i spent it. if you mean that i should not have included $3k worth of labor in there then please explain why.
$3k stereo was in the car for about 6 months until i took off car pc, amps, sub, etc. right now i only have audiobahn marine speakers up front and im about to install 2 clearwater speakers in the rear with some cd player

16k including the car? That might make sense. :-)

Then again, not everyone gets everything used, does their own work, etc. I added it up. If I didn't get the car salvage title, get the turbo for half price, butterfly brace for half price, shocks used, etc etc etc - especially counting rebuilds, I could easily have... $55k into my car. Easily. And that's calling the car the 17k it blue booked for when I got it.

And I know people who've spent that much on their cars. Ok, so I've got under 20 in it, but that just shows a factor of 2 - 2.5 is not at all unreasonable.

Look at the other thread where the guy was putting a 35,000 motor into a car. You can easily spend it. It just sucks if you do, I guess.

Exactly.

You have to realize when you are wasting money.

Labor is wasted unless you are doing things worth more then spending that time wrenching on the car. Very few things beside dyno time are worth spending labor on for ME. And for 99% of the site, same **** applies.

Just have to realize what performance/$ you want, and if it is worth spending the extra $ to move up to a better base.

10k$ Miata motor, no thanks. You can easily spend 10k+ building any motor, when you add it up. Counting supporting mods for that 10k motor, you can easily afford a used Lotus Elise.

The Miata is a great car if you are dumping under ~15k TOTAL of mods into it, anymore I would move up to a better platform. That 15k, does not include 3k worth of audio.

But hey, wtf do I know? Do what you like, matters little to me.

$16k not including car in my case...
lets do a quick count...

wheels:
bbs + azenis = $900
... wasted 2 sets of rear tires and sold wheels for $150... reused front tires on next set of wheels...
sportmax 002s w/ new front tires + mounting, balancing, lug nuts, etc = $850 or so
fender flares = $300

interior/sound/safety:
$3k stereo
short shifter + boots, etc = $150
first roll bar = $350 (sold for $150)
boss frog maxx w/ padding = $650
little bits and pieces to make car look better inside = $300
gauges = $160

go fast parts:
m45 supercharger = $1300 + upgrades = $2000 or so total (sold for $1600 if i recall correctly)
turbo kit = $1400 + $500 for installation
intercooler + pipes = $600
exhaust = $350 (changed it several times)
megasquirt + wbo2 + harness + sensors, etc = $1100 (fucked up several times so it came to be a bit expensive)
wi kit = $180
clutch + flywheel + installation = $1000
tomei 2-way diff = $800 + $300 installation
stiffer engine mounts = ~$160 installed

suspension/brakes:
performance pads: $150 + $80 installation
braided brake lines = $80 + installation
suspension = ~$1200

+ some other **** which i cant remember right now + labor on cleaning engine and other maintenance ****, several alignment sessions, etc which total to another $1000-2000

so thats about $17k right there +/- $1k

The only way to get an engine bay clean is to pull the motor out of the way first. Then it gets a lot simpler.

Oh, and... The money is in the several real power adders you've put on the car and taken off again. I think if I ever wanted to go supercharged, I'd sell the car complete and start over, what's the point otherwise? :-)

Well, cost is all in who's buying. My brother goes to a salvage yard and they charge him twice the price of me. He is always screwed at least $40 over me. He was going to pay $65 for some parts from the casier, I stopped him. I asked for the manager and got it for $25.
Cheap is a virtue!
