magnamx-5 07-07-2007 01:37 PM

Vashthestampede 07-07-2007 01:42 PM

I think the new server is trying to stop you from posting a bazillion times a day.....thats all. :)

Because you are choking it, post whore!

Haven't noticed anything going slower, but have received a lot of error messages and have had problems loading pages.

the SQL server we're on is probably getting slow and we need to be moved.

we're at the mercy of the host until sucha time that the forum can afford a dedicated box, I sure as fuck am not paying for it out of pocket.

cjernigan 07-09-2007 01:36 PM

I don't know how much a dedicated server would cost. Would that be something you would operate out of house or what?

no, I don't have a dedicated line that could support it or I would.
You'd have to basically rent the box or coloq it, on the cheap end 100/mo on the spendy end a few hundred, depending.

magnamx-5 07-09-2007 02:04 PM

damn yeah sounds like to much $$ for the return the server seems pretty peppy now anywho so it doesn't realy matter this is still the most kick ass site on the internet, even if it gets downgraded to dial up speed service i will still frequent it as much as possible.

Philip 07-09-2007 03:53 PM

if I could get a reliable line here like FIOS or something with a dedicated IP I could consider running it off a box here. Running it off ym comcast line is not an option.

Philip 07-14-2007 05:54 PM

sent the host a support request, maybe they can help, I still think it's probably the SQL server I'm on, maybe they'll be kind enough to move me.

Philip 07-14-2007 08:37 PM

oh, erm, we're the ones killing hte DB server and our DB is too large so if I don't trim it down they'll disable it lol

Philip 07-14-2007 09:06 PM

I can get a dedicated server for about $70 a month, but need to figure out a way to get the forum to pay for itself.

cjernigan 07-14-2007 11:16 PM

What options are there because our google clicks aren't gonna cut it.
Maybe you should look into being sponsored like homemadeturbo.com. Besides their dick enlargement sponsor their other supporting companies are great for turbo cars. Such as racing solutions tubing and what not. Plus board members always get a discount.

Philip 07-14-2007 11:26 PM

we're really much too small for much sponsorship methinks.

I'm going to have to hack the fuck out of the DB to get it back down below 200 megs, that means attachments are getting whacked soon.

Philip 07-14-2007 11:28 PM

adsense generates about $30 a month BTW, enough for shared hosting but not a dedicated box. I need something to generate another $50.
