"I can just see myself, hampered with the name James May, trying to charm someone at a ball-aching media function when this snake-hipped b-----d shimmies up and says: “Hi, Tanner Foust, racing driver.”
That’s worth five seconds a lap on the great circuit of life and he’s across the line while I’m still poncing around in the pits."

It's subtle, but what he's really saying is "TGUS is the latest example of extreme douchebaggery from across the pond. They picked guys with marketable names and hope the abysmally designed shows and skits will be be overlooked."
I've watched 3 episodes and they're all terrible. Not "terrible when compared to the original", but just ******* terrible.

TGUS is doomed because it's always going to be compared to TGUK. If we had never seen the UK version and this show all of the sudden came out, I imagine we'd all be singing praise for the existence of a decent American motoring show. Top Gear UK started out kinda lousy, too. Clarkson wasn't even on the first season back in '02 or whatever it was. The other problem that TGUS has is that it's not funded by the BBC and it's on a US cable channel, which in the FCC's brilliance is still not as "open minded" as the BBC.

Fixed that for you.
Yeah, it's a toughie. The first series of TKUG was pretty lame by modern standards, almost as bad as current-gen Fifth Gear.
I do hope them the best, though. TGUS is the closest thing I've ever seen to a good motoring show here in the states, and from what I've seen it's not unsalvegable, the presenters just need to stop being nice to one another and start fostering more grudges and resentment.

Tanner Foust definitely knows how to trash talk, so he has the capability. If you have seen whatever the name of that show is where him and Paul Tracy (pro driver) have contests to compare supercars. It is a bit contrived, but Foust and Tracy go at each other the whole show via the host.
Maybe the woosie show director needs to just let them cut loose and go at each other.
