This. For a basic web browsing machine, no one should be using Microsoft Windows anything. Instead, use your favorite Linux distribution or just get a Macbook/ iPad. Ain't nobody got time to wait for a Windows machine to boot up and Internet Explorer to open.

IMO nothing free is all that great. And this is coming from someone who uses a free app, Sophos, on their Macbook. They all have pros/cons. Kaspersky if you're a conservative beholden to Trump/Putin/FSB. Macafee/Symantec if you'd rather support the NSA's abilities to snoop. All the top firms are pretty much the same: they actively hunt down malware/virus/trojans while selling zero-days to state security apparatus and creating a convenient vector for them once the inevitable cyber war flares up.
