I just wish the big bugs in District 9 would get loose and go after the referees.

The Dutch played soccer when they were finished colonizing S. Afrika. And they still do it quite well, I might add.

Point taken. I'll kick my soapbox out from under myself.

So the semifinals look like:

Uruguay
Brazil
Germany
Spain

Any arguments to the contrary? Only decent games this next round look like Brazil vs Netherlands and Germany vs Argentina.

Spains next game will look just like today's, and although Ghana is athletic they'll take their leave this round.

I completely expect Argentina to crumble in front of the consistent and powerful German/Polish/Turkish freak hybrid team.

Once heard it said that soccer is a game where everyone kicks the ball around for 90 minutes and then Germany wins...looks like it may hold true this year.

My dream final is Germany and Brazil now.

I agree, but Im not so sure about Spain. Lol at "freak hybrid team". Brazil vs. Germany will be a great final, and sweet revenge for Germany.

We'll see about Germany. I think both you and Damon are wrong. If Germany were to beat Argentina (which I don't think will be the case), they would lose to us for sure.

I do think Argentina has it easier to beat us but it won't be a walk in the park.

And btw buffoon: Spain is going to kick Paraguay's ***!

I don't get how you think Argentina is done, I can't wait to watch the Germany and Argentina game and shut you up once and for all. Argentina has a nasty team and I think Argentina vs Brazil will be the final.

Why? Paraguay is almost identical in play to the team Spain punked today. Of course we thought going into the Ghana game that they'd play the same manner and strength Algeria did, and ended up on the plane after that game...

I don't know man.

I used to think the world of Argentina, but I just really haven't seen anything this tournament that makes me think they've got it. Sure they had a good spark last game, but it's easy to play like that when you're a goal or two up, and they definitely had some help getting into that position. Had they put themselves in the lead and then run away with it I'd see it differently, but that was a "mental" win that was given to them.

Messi has gone the way of Ronaldinho, the world has recognized his greatness and he's become complacent. Ronaldo(Por) as well, who barely got a goal in a 7-0 slaughter, but he's atleast playing very well, and his touch is there. Messi doesn't have that spunk and grace he displayed just a few seasons ago when he went to Barcelona. IF he does come back around then more power to them, and they have a chance. Not only that, but us fans will get a show. At the moment I'm convinced that Argentina is just going through the motions though.

Brazil will likely make it because they are no longer depending on the magical joga bonita, but are simply pounding out victories with solid tactics, tough fights to gain and keep posession, and attacks any way they can get them that always result in goals due to great finishing skills. But Holland is pretty damn good, and again, this will be the next best game to watch this round after the Germany-Argentina match.

Uruguay isn't going to just roll over for them at all, definitely a dangerous team.

Looks like two great semifinals are shaping up, and there'd have to be a couple of upsets along the way to end up with a one-sided final.

In order for Messi to play for Argentina the way he does in Barcelona, Xavi and Iniesta will have be nationalized Argentinian.

Yeah, and I'll think they'll still be busy long after the Argentines have taken off their stripes.

Really lousy sportsmanship from some of the Brazilians between the second goal by the Dutch and the end of the game. They were obviously frustrated. It was a good game. Both sides hustled.

I thought the officiating was of a significantly higher caliber than some of the previous matches.

Edit: I'm rooting for Uruguay over Ghana this afternoon because I used to date a sweet girl from Uruguay. That is a good enough reason for me.

Uruguay might get screwed since Ghana is the only African country left. Messi should takes notes from Robben's performance.

Wow, friggin' Brazil. I always get the feeling that they have the talent, but their laid-back culture doesn't provide the work ethic. Not really the case today, but they give that impression. Holland played a great game, and looking back it's easy to see this isn't a spurt. I had a feeling they were good, but they have a history of choking.

I'm torn on the Ghana-Uruguay game. One of them knocked out our team, the other knocked out my wife's team. Ghana has the host continent behind them and amazing athleticism, while Uruguay has the skillset and history.

I'm just glad the games are turning out good. Usual poor sportsmanship and bad calls, but a good show overall unlike half the previous rounds. Germany-Argentina is still the game I'm waiting for though....and it looks like Holland just took Brazil's spot in the final against the Germans, although the Uruguay-Holland semifinal looks a lot different than an all South American semi on that side of the bracket.
