I find it oddly disturbing that while we were en route from IAH to RSW this evening, the captain came on the PA several times to give us updates on the game, which he was receiving from ATC.

I'm actually pulling for the Yankees for some reason this year...as much as I normally hate them. I was a big Damon fan (namesake) from when he was with Boston...and have always liked Jeter. I also think A-Rod is working on being a person and not just a baseball robot.

I'm finally enjoying the fall classic for the first time since the 'Stros were in it though.

+1. Some of us are unfortunate to have him on the local forum and have met him a couple times.

I hate baseball, and I hate that the game has forced new episodes of Bones and Fringe to delay for 2weeks now. If the game stopped and the players went on strike, I would applaud.

most people that don't like baseball just don't understand the game, they might think they do but really they don't. and you kinda need to know the little stuff to get it. With it's rule set it's pretty much impossible to ruin baseball unlike all the other mainstream sports.

btw, 3.5 hours for a 9 inning game is rediculous. they need to cut these things down.

Lev, let me know if you ever travel up here in the fall/winter; my family owns Giants season tickets and we often have extras.

I stopped giving a damn about baseball when they went on strike. And my attention span is way to short for it anymore.

I actually don't care much for activities that others are involved in. Spectating isn't as interesting to me as actually doing something with my own life. I don't need to identify with some team or athlete like some (but not all) fans do to add a sense of worth and belonging to my psyche. I feel sorry for the guys who spend all weekend watching complete strangers live out their dreams while they accomplish nothing in their own lives. It's pretty sad for some of them.:2cents:

I liken it to spending the whole weekend in your mom's basement playing World of Warcraft instead of living a little.:loser:

Has nothing to do with not understanding the game. Its just plain boring as hell to watch. Its right up there with golf on my list of boring sports to watch. Watching badminton at the Olympics is more fun than watching baseball.

As for people not liking baseball, it is my opinion that unless you are born into a family that likes Baseball and are raised that way than that's the only way you become a fan of it. I highly doubt that someone could all of a sudden like it.

If you ever tried getting GOOD seats to a Giants game (ours are good seats in the lower deck) -- in a playoff year -- then you'd understand how mere access to face-value tickets is already a generous thing for me to offer. Otherwise, go enjoy a $300 nosebleed ticket from a scalper. Not much fun. Our friends who are real fans are thrilled about the chance for non-crappy, non-extortion tickets. Every year they come out of the woodwork to "remind" us that if we ever have extra, blah blah blah. I did a nice thing by offering some to you, and I'm not going to feel guilty if you think it wasn't nice enough.

Cause EK tries to make it sound like he's doing someone a favor by selling them the ticket at exactly what it cost. Im sure Phil, like others, thought he meant he could go with him to the game for free. That's like saying " Dude, you are more than welcome to come to my beach house. What the ticket costs my family, as season ticket owners, is completely different from what anyone else can get on the street, StubHub, etc. I'm not being subtle: good seats for this team, at face value, ARE a favor to most real fans. If you can't understand that .... well that's your problem.

well i don't know what really happened here but face value for desirable tickets can't be assumed to be valued at face value when the game come around. my wife and her mom own season tickets to the eagles and i can't understand them not selling every single one of them for a serious profit. that said, when they can't go they sell their tickets at face value to friends who are more than willing to pay just to be able to get good seats.

Baseball is on par with golf (pun intended) boring as FUCK! I have to admit the World Series is slightly more exciting than regular season, but its still just a bunch of damn spitting guys standing around hitting a ball with a bat. If they played the game with grenades instead of a baseball, and there were mines randomly placed in the field I could get into it. Otherwise I have to pry my eyes open to watch more than a few innings. I think my main issue is the spitting. People that spit all the time infuriate me. I used to work construction and 2 of my co workers used to chew and hey would all the fucking time spit big wads of that shit out of the skid loader I was about to have to take over operating, and when I would get in there would be spit all over everything in the cab... :crx: Even the players that don't chew spit just for the sake of spitting. I don't get it.
