Default Would a cage be retarded in a street car?

So...now my turn to be like hustler...

After I graduate in two years, I want to start doing hill climbs and track days and **** with the miata...and not use it as a DD anymore...as it is...it is my DD.

I have a M2Sport bar right now, robbins glass rear window. My friend wants my roll bar...and happens to know of a guy selling his hard dog bolt in cage for pretty cheap.

All said and done, I could have a bolt in cage for about an extra $100 bucks on my end...if it would fit my glass top. x.X

Now, it might be a PITA, but it would be neat...

Opinions? :gay:

i wouldn't... good place to brain yourself in more than just a rear-ending accident. plus you wont be able to put the top up and down easily. in fact i'd take it out if i had a cage. either no top or hardtop...

Cages are dangerous without a race bucket, harnesses, and a helmet. Padding does no good; you should have it padded even with a helmet.

I thought about the same thing, and decided against it.

After a year of driving my showroom stock miata with an autopower bolt in cage (fairly open) on the street, I got sick of it. Climbing in and out got old. May be easier for somebody smaller than 6ft 200lbs.

A Cage on a street car with a cabin the size of a miata(which isn't THAT small) wouldn't really be a good idea.

It's ok in a bigger car because the bars are above your head and they probably won't be right by the side of your head either. But like some people already said, in a miata, you'll run the risk of smacking your head even in a non-rollover accident (which is the only time you really need a roll-bar/cage).

My old bar was a great compromise.

yeah a 20 point roll bar what a compromise. still a sweet setup though. Unless you are talking about a different version from the 1 you posted before.

It was a 6 point bar that didn't pass directly above your head.

It's a Cusco unit. I've heard it isn't concidered a proper roll cage. It might however make a very nice in-between. That way you don't have to worry about scrambling your brains on a bar, it's better than a roll bar, and at a later date you could weld Side doors, fire wall bar and the rest of the cage.

From what I know it allows full access to use of soft top and hard top.

WOT's is not a cusco anything. It was custom made by flipside tuning.

Really? I could swear i've seen that bar on a number of other cars that were claiming them as cusco cages.
