Default Would you clear coat a valve cover?

I've got a protege valve cover that I've painted and am sanding and polishing the letters and lines on. I'm worried that the exposed metal will corrode over time. I have a clear coat VHT spray can. Should I use it? Is clear coat out of a can just going to look like garbage?

I polished the letters on a cover 6 months ago to a mirror shine. They wipe clean to the same finish again if I run my finger on them. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, hit it with clear coat for sure. The letters WILL corode and the shine fade over time if not protected. Need another valve cover?
