Yet Another Gun Thread
I actually ended up ordering the Gen 5 from Battlehawk Armory instead at $349 which comes with three mags instead of one. They're the early model without front serrations on the slide, but I'm in it for the trigger upgrade over the Gen 4's. With tax and shipping it was still under 4 beans.
In my usual, let's modify things to make them better mode, I bought a CZ Custom trigger pack for my Scorpion. They suggest it be installed by a gunsmith but I'm an engineer so pressed onwards. Everything went fine until I was doing function checks and couldn't get the safety to operate. After taking it apart/putting back together about 20 times, the following day I started looking at it forensically and determined the new trigger was blocked the safety rod from moving. A little judicious filing with some jeweler's files and voila! Seemed odd to me there was that much variation in parts that they didn't just slide into place.

Picked up the LE trade-in G17 Gen 5 on Friday and was pleasantly surprised. Case was included, as well as all the backstraps/pins. All three mags were OEM Glock mags, sights were Trijicon night sights with the high vis orange/tritium combo front, and it came installed with a KAGWERKS extended slide release. Guts were immaculate, slide had one small scuff mark near the muzzle that's through the finish, and a few small "burnished" areas that didn't wear through, but is otherwise in fantastic shape. While heavy, I was surprised at the Gen 5 trigger which I had heard was an improvement, but it definitely has a more distinct wall/break compared to the earlier generations.
I've plopped a TLR-1 HL on the rail, and it will likely become the new bedside pistol once I have a few hundred rounds through it with no malfunctions.

I shot the Scorpion with my oldest son before I left to come back to work. Trigger itself was fine but it would sometimes not quite reset and had to be nudged. I figure it was something I did in getting the clearance needed to get the safety working so I ordered a new trigger housing and safety plug. Those are waiting for me to get home and install. Should be easier this time since I know what I need to do.
Now I'm leaning towards buying a Bren 2 carbine when I get home. Kind of sucks that CZ doesn't include iron sights with the rifle but does with the pistols, but oh well.

Here's what I don't understand about accuracy statements vis a vis the Bren 2. I have read all sorts of disparate results from shooting them, to the point where I figure it's mainly down to ammo, person shooting and the length of the barrel. CZ makes fine guns and I can't see them turning out something that sub-par (especially considering these are being used in anger in Ukraine). I'll find out for myself how it does in my hands.
Picked up one of the $299 Gen 4 Glock 17 LE trade ins for my daughter to shoot. Had Wager do an RMR cut for a 507C and put handle-it grips on after polishing the trigger assembly. Liked it enough to buy a second one that was luckily in even better shape, and sent the upper off to Maple Leaf for an EPS cut and barrel/slide port. Trigger on that one has the least creep and cleanest wall out of any stock Glock trigger I've ever felt, including my Gen 5, only slightly heavier than the Gen 5.

My wife never really shot scoped rifles... long story but TLDR she's right handed and left eye dominant, and just never really worked it out. Now that we're retired and shooting weekly, I spent some time helping her figure it out, and she's enjoying it. She's been shooting a CZ457 in .22LR that I set up in a KRG Bravo stock a few years back.

She decided she wanted something with a little more reach, so I just finished putting together a Rem 700 SPS in .223 for her. KRG Bravo, Triggertech trigger, and an Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56. She likes some color on her guns, so I did a sponge camo paint job for it.

It shot sub-MOA with some cheap X-Tac 55gr when I test fired it in the factory stock, so I have high hopes for it once it's broken in.

I wish I could get my wife to go shooting, but she refuses. I'm gathering parts to put together an AR-10 for my oldest when I get home, he's helped out a lot in the past year while I've been gone and I want to give him something I know he likes that he can't get for himself. Lots of sales going on right now, I'm guessing because of end of the year inventory clearance but I'm curious to see if that amps up after Trump's election.
Yes. I have a few. The picture above of the tommy gun has one of my printed suppressors on them.
What type are you interested in? I have north of 1k 9mm rounds through one of my FTN.3. It still looks and works great. I have 500+ rounds through my rimfire can and it looks new.
Rifle calibers are a bit of a different story. Yes you can get them to work. life expectancy can vary depending on how much shooting you are doing and what material type.
100% federally legal. You just have to fill out a form1 and pay a $200 tax.

Here is Braineack shooting my MP5 clone with my FTN.3.

Shooting the MP5 Clone. I don't remember what grain 9mm this was. 147+ grain is pretty damn quiet. Click the link below for a quick video. MT will not load those right.

Crank firing with my rimfire can. This is with CCI Minimag ammo. The 3dprinted can is only slightly louder then my Otter Creek Labs .22 Titanium.

The FTN.3 stuff is all I've seen that was mildly interesting. I'm glad to hear that the 9mm one is holding up, but I'd really like to use one of the bigger cans with 300blk. I've been quite dubious that even the largest could hold up to regular 308 use as they claim, but it would be nice if I could use one with 6.5 Creedmoor without it exploding in a few rounds.
I do most of my printing now for automotive stuff in carbon reinforced nylon, so theoretically its the good stuff, but dropping $600 on three forms for a few rounds per print is a tough pill to swallow from a time perspective.

FTN.4 is coming out soon. Currently its in the last parts of beta testing. I use PA6-CF for all my cans.
.308 and 6.5 are fine if they are bolt action. I have shot .308 through my ftn.3 a few times with my hunting rifle. If I go deer hunting this year, it will be on my rifle.
Plenty of people have been shooting 300blk with subsonic rounds with good luck. I am pretty sure one tester shot north of 500 rounds in a day before and the can is still going good. The big thing is .223/5.56 and 7.62 with continuous fast use and letting heat build up. That is what is giving cans some issues. This also depends on the type of mount system being used. Some do better then others. Generally from testing it has been the mount that gives the biggest issues.

I'm seeing a lot of those Sightmark scopes around and have been wondering how good they are.
Primary Arms has their micro prism scopes on sale right now, I got one of the 5X ones for the Bren 2 I'm planning on buying once home.
