I see a lot of BATF cut up gun kits for sale. What do you do with something like this??? I know places sell something like a PPS as a working pistol (with the stock in a fixed folded up position) but I am confused on what a kit would be used for.

Depends on whether or not you have a functional stock.

Buy a legal PPS and have a legal gun OR buy PPS parts and a parts kit, then disable the folding stock or go to jail. Seems like a strange way to go about it. I wouldn't think there would be a very large market for something like that. I could understand if you needed replacement parts for a gun you already had...

tonight I put the 2,000th round through my Glock 20SF.

after shooting roughly 200 heavier grain (200 gr) hollow points, I noticed a slight slip in accuracy when I switched back to the FBI loads I have sitting around so I finally swabbed the barrel. it wasn't the dirtiest thing I've ever seen so I don't feel bad about it.

slightly over 2,000 rounds now with zero failures, w/o cleaning.

for the cost of all this ammo, I could have bought an unreal amount of alcohol but I'm pleased with the round.

gun ****:

1973 S&W Model 19-3 Texas Rangers Commemorative. Fully worked action, custom grips. Maneater.

Thanks; I'd love an AR-style SBR with a can, but I am not sure I am willing to drop that level of coinage. I think your points about capacity (I think the Saiga-12 is usually ~7 - 10 round straight mags and the SPX is 7+1 with 2.75" shells) makes sense. On the other hand, I would think the likelihood of a shootout in the house requiring more rounds than that to be extremely remote.

Granted - always better to have too many rounds than not enough but it's like any other kind of insurance. For me, I want to try and buy a little more than "just enough" as opposed to "as much as possible."

I am with you on recoil management, though. I guess I need to try and get my hands on a couple of those platforms and have the missus test them out as well. I would think something like a Saiga-12 or a more traditional 20-gauge semi-auto with buckshot would be a reasonable compromise of capacity, manageable recoil and "stopping power" without high risk of errant rounds going through multiple walls of drywall plus multiple cinder block walls.

I'd also be going for the AR... 30 in the gun, 30 in the redi-mag... no brainer.

Of course... AR isn't really easily accessible

Debating if I want to pick up a Benelli M2.

Finally got around to shooting the two new pistols today (CZ52 and Tokarev TTC). The plan was to find which one I liked the best and give the other to my father. Both were really nice to shoot and I couldn't really choose between the two. I'll probably let him pick his favorite. I don't really like the euro mag release on the CZ but it really isn't a plinker and may not be a big deal if it is a little harder to load. I absolutely love the report/flame shooting out with the 7.62x25 ammo. I started with the target about 5 yards away and I thought I was going to set it on fire from the muzzle blast.

Don't know what to tell you other than a majority of people seem to agree with me. If this is some "YA BUT IT'S WAT I LYK" arguments, then that's fine, but don't bitch about the inadequacies of a weapon and then get offended when someone agrees with you.

Robert come on dont get a raspy anus because they dont agree with you. You're bigger than that.

Personally speaking, the 7.62x25mm does have some serious penetration potential. Its dinky but it can hit a 1500 ft per second which is roughly twice the velocity of a .45 acp. Great for hard surface penetration.

Personally though, there is no way in hell Id take such a small bullet over a .45 ACP per say. It had its merits back when it was relatively cutting edge for its time. Now though, there are a million other options that are FAR more effective at stopping, penetration and killing power. By todays standards, its a ---- round.

I bought a couple of historic guns with really interesting designs that shoot armor piercing rounds. I shared my purchase with the guys on a couple of other forums that I am on and everyone thought it was cool. I went shooting with a couple of guys yesterday and they agreed that it was a good purchase and people were coming up to me at the range checking the guns out. This board feels like it is populated with 15 year olds who get their kicks out of disagreeing with everything that gets posted. That turbo sucks, that car sucks, XBox sucks, that doesn't have the stopping power of a Desert Eagle .50 so it is a complete piece of crap. I'm just tired of the high school stuff on MTnet. It is the reason I never have purchased a membership here and the reason I only visit about a 10th the time I used to. I paid $100 for 60 year old unique gun that has been called the most accurate military pistol ever invented. I'm going to shoot it a few times and then give it to my dad as a present. How that can be twisted into a bad thing is beyond me?

Maybe it is time you go then Robert. Seems like you've out grown this place. You should see how we talk to each other in person (Pusha, Buffon, Myself) its far worse

Just because all the other dudes you showed that piece to gushed over how great it was doesnt mean everyone is going to give a ----. I love Taurus revolvers. Jake makes me want to stick one up is loose ------- every time we talk about them because its ---- Taurus this ---- Taurus that, theyre ------ guns blah blah blah but you know what? Hell shoot the damn thing either way.

To put this nicer, quit getting annoyed and taking ---- personal when a few people get negative on your ----. Who gives a damn? Post away, spill your info which at times is very worth while and just chill out and fire back with out getting but hurt. I respect old fire arms for the most part and the fact that this ones a gift to your dad is a cool gesture.
