You ever hit that poing during a project

Where there is just so much to do, so little time, and you don't even know where to start working again. :hs:

I just can't get back to work.. Don't know why. Everytime I go to my shop, I end up working on another car. Its like automotive ADD.

hustler 02-26-2007 01:21 PM

well, just the opposite. I travel 100%, so I never have time, but know exactly what I want to do.

YES.

I also have the "oh I also wanna do ____" problem. Projects that pop up in the middle of other projects. I think I've got about 400.

best bet is to write down all the things you want to do and a time estimate for each one. If you have a window of time, pick one and bang it out.

+1, i just recently started doing this.....make myself a list and cross them off when i get them done, i seem to get a lot more done and don't forget about things

getsidewaysd1 02-26-2007 02:08 PM

I think this happens to everyone.

timhill78 02-26-2007 02:09 PM

+1 for the list. It puts it into better perspective. My mind tends to race around to all the different things I want to do and all the money that I'll have to spend if I don't get a plan.

Since starting the turbo project about two months back, I went through three other cars. Parted a civic, bought a sentra worked on it a bit then sold it, and now bought the probe. Wish I could stop buying crap but I keep running into deals. :/

I acually just made a list two weeks ago. Filled a paper with 95% of what I need done.. Havent tallied a thing off yet. Good thing its still snowing here.

TheBandit 02-26-2007 03:07 PM

In the last month, you dont know how many times this has happened to me. Drives you crazy doesn't it?

If I had a probe, i'd get the custom plate "NL PRB"

akaryrye 02-26-2007 03:18 PM

I get the I dont feel like going out and working on my car feeling a lot.

y8s 02-26-2007 03:43 PM

*poing*

RicanmiataRacer 02-26-2007 04:24 PM

been there.....Hate it. you just need sombody to motivate you, im motivated at my once very hated job...because I realized hey The better I do my job the more money in my pocket from bonusus that can go into building my project?

Splitime 02-26-2007 05:18 PM

Look at my build thread... I know exactly how this entire process feels. Heh.

RicanmiataRacer 02-26-2007 05:28 PM

time is the biggest issue I have on working on my prod car, Working 40-80 hours a week then running around taking care of random duties at the same time, and when I do get the time its usually bad outside

Pitlab77 02-26-2007 07:00 PM

working all day and taking masters courses at night = car gets no love :(

i cant wait for some tlc at spring break. The girl will be getting a stupid dent fixed and some claybar and wax. Maybe even a polish

brgracer 02-26-2007 07:06 PM

Trouble with a list is that my list grows faster than I can cross things off.

But to answer your question, yes, I get frustrated at looking at the pile of stuff that should be installed on my car just sitting there in my basement. :vash:

Pitlab77 02-26-2007 07:08 PM

i get frustrated with the piles of work at work

still at work at 6pm and the kids have been gone since 4

Savington 02-26-2007 07:51 PM

Every paycheck since I started working has been spent on paper at least 3 months in advance. I don't get a paycheck and say "Ok, what can I buy for my car?" I ask myself "What's the next item on my list?" :) I knew a friend who got a $3000 windfall and had to decide for about a month on what to spend it on. I got a $3000 windfall this past spring and it was gone in 10 days, between paying off my car and ordering $1800 in suspension parts and a front lip. :) If you gave me another $3k, it would be gone in a week on turbo parts.
