Buying an engine from Paul this week. Looking to put it in the first week in Nov when I have off. I guess count me in for dynoing.

95 r package, 94 bottom end, 95 head, gt2560, absurdflow setup, MSPNP

I would go Friday but karting+hotel+dyno+gas+food=broke I'm pretty sure I'll go to the dyno tho

Oh that's cool, I didn't know Paul had a spare engine.

So what's different with the setup from when you dyno'ed last time?

ArtieParty 10-01-2009 11:11 AM

95 head will be going on along with the stock 95 intake manifold. Should see lower results than last time. Actually, I will pretty much have the same engine and turbo as Jan (Johndoe) but with absurdflow stuff instead of Begi so it'll be interesting to see what numbers it will put down.

Ill talk Ed into coming back up, he should have a new clutch by then. rofl.

In which case you will also have the same turbo/engine setup as what I dyoned last time, except with my BEGI/FM replacement manifold. So that's good, we'll have a good comparison between the standard ABSURDflow mani and the BEGI/FM tubular ABSURDflow mani.

Yah that'd be sweet, a 3rd different ABSURDflow manifold style with the 2560R, except he has the BEGI intake and a worked 99 head with cams.

Last time I dyno'd (fall '07), the car made more power in 4th than in 5th, even though it's a 6-sp. Is that normal? I hoped to have the 5-sp. in by now, but the other person is busy. :)

Short answer: no, it is not normal.

Also last time you dynoed I don't recall you getting a single good pull in.

I've changed my setup pretty good from last time, should be curious to see what my ebay delta fin IC and turbo do :P

I meant the last time I dyno'd successfully.

what the hell is a delta fin IC?

neogenesis2004 10-05-2009 11:51 AM

Its JDM tyte y0!

Its a tube/fin ic with the tube's edges in a angled, triangular (aka delta) shape. Supposed to help "guide" the air into the fins with a helping hand.

its just tube and fin with a twist. 'Downgraded' from my 12x18x3 B&P core to this 18x6.5x2.5 T&F core.

Ahh I see, thanks. Why did you downgrade?

I wanted to put a 18x12x3 tube/fin IC like mine into Ed's car but couldn't find one on ebay when the time came, so he got a bar/plate style.

Braineack 10-05-2009 12:41 PM

because when i had 'upgraded' to my 12x18x3 from my 12x11x3 I noticed an increase in spool time. i thought it was overkill for 230rwhp and decided id rather have a smaller core that flows better and is less of a impedance for the rad. I noticed right away a more responsive turbo after the swap and better coolant temps, but of course the trade off was AIT temps which i saw an increase of.

the only difference between these two setups is the tune and the IC. the smaller IC is the quicker spooling graph.
