I’m not saying I will, more just subscribing to the thread, but Id be up to do either of those.

Either/Both of those are theoretically possible for me as well, but like Josh can't commit right now.

9/26-27 Speed Ventures @ Sonoma (with prior thursday Thill add-on):
1. savington 2. arca_ex 3. turbofan (first choice) 4. curly (maybe) 5. dleavitt (maybe) 6. Codrus 7. Nigel 10/2-3 Shelby Club @ Thill 1. scaxx 2. turbofan (2nd choice) 3. Curly (maybe) 4. dleavitt (maybe) 5.Codrus 6. Nigel |
I could (and likely would) attend either of them.

Both are good for me!

Just saw this thread, did a TL:DR.
9/26-27/20 is a Super Spec Cup /Super GT weekend. So there will be Miatae there anyway. Events I have a good relationship with the owner of Speed Ventures. I wouldn't suggest us buying run groups but I think a group rate (group buy) might be something he could do. Essentially discounted rates for the group once we hit a certain number then additional discounts for every 5 drivers registered beyond that. BBQ / camping at track would be most fun but track generally doesn't allow that. Easier than trying to find a good restaurant/brewery that will accommodate a party of 30. But booking a banquet room or something like that at a brewery could be worth it. Sonoma sometimes allows an autocross in the lot. It's tiny but could still be fun for those less track prepped/oriented. |
Lack of track camping is a non-starter for me.
Thunderhill only probably. |
No camping is a bit of a no go for a lot of us, if Sonoma doesn't allow camping, that pretty much puts that track out of the question unfortunately :sad2:
|
Sonoma does allow camping at The Paddock, and they have showers and everything. It's not as nice as the Laguna seca campgrounds but it's like camping in any other Paddock.
|
Cool, as long as this is the case (and we know for sure we can camp that weekend) then it's still an option.
|
A huge BBQ at the track would be way more fun than something at a restaurant and far simpler logistically. Reduce the cost of lodging with camping and more drivers can show up from further away.
Weather in September is warm so evenings at the track would be nice. Often windy so that's a concern for tents and EZ ups but that can be dealt with. If we get a consensus, I'll ping Aaron and see if he is interested in a few price tiers / group rate. Miatas @ Sonoma 2020 |

I would invite Dave Coleman as the Grand Marshal. He is more like the average Miata geek than anyone else I have met at Mazda.
|
As long as it's not exclusively miatas, I know at least a couple of us were bringing our non-miata track cars :D

So of course, bring whatever you want.

if it ends up being speed ventures at Sonoma we can probably buy 10 minutes of track time to set up a group photo op on the front straight
