6th Annual NE MT.net dyno day - May 2

Alright getting ready to set this up and most peeps could make it on that date. More details to follow, but the dyno is in Delaware: 73 Albe Drive, Newark, DE 19702.

Pricing depends on how many cars show up. If we get at least 10, then we get a price break. Last year it was $55 for four pulls on dynojet (non-loading) with wideband. If you've come before, you know that they'll often let you make adjustments and do more than 4 pulls, but certainly no hardcore tuning for that price.

So....I need to know:
1) Are you coming?
2) Will you be dynoing?
3) Will you be eating lunch? (so I can plan for food)
4) Do you plan to stay to go karting? (so we can reserve a race or more ahead of time so we don't have to wait)

Thanks.

EDIT: MT.net sticker for those who show. Lunch will be on Rick.

I'll swap FLA for MD for a year. I'm sick of the cold.

I'm going to get working more on the car this weekend. Hopefully finish the exhaust and get the rest of the under hood wiring done, along with welding up an adapter for the throttle cable. Then I'll just have the interior wiring to get it turned over, which I'd like to get to by next weekend.

If my car is running, which it better damn well be, I should be there. Not sure in what capacity yet though. I don't want to plan to dyno then have my shit limping around leaking all over the place or something. I've done too much last minute dynoing where I'm scrambling doing an all nighter to get a car ready for a dyno day I already paid for. I'd like everything to be sorted out before I make a commitment.

Frank

shuiend 03-17-2009 09:46 PM

I am in for all 4. Will be heading up with the NOVA caravan. Hopefully I wont have to give Scott a ride.

pjm 03-19-2009 09:40 PM

1. yes
2. yes
3 yes
4. only if they run shifters

..........anyone running triple turbos this year?

the_man 03-19-2009 10:40 PM

1- Yes
2- Yes
3- Yes
4- Dunno. Depends what else comes up. Doubt it, though.

I would also like to offer to bring some doughnuts or something, maybe a couple boxes of coffee from Dunkin', if people are interested. If pizza is in order for lunch, please oh please oh please order from Margherita's if they'll deliver that far. If not I'd be tempted to drive the 3 miles to get it.

If people would be interested in hitting any of the local watering holes afterward, I'd be down for that fo' sho'.

How about least? :D

evank 03-26-2009 12:30 PM

I messed up and misread my calendar. Will be in Florida that weekend, so I have to miss dyno day. :(

14.5-15psi
Daily : yes
94 bottom end, 99/00 head
It's BEGi's exhaust mani but AbsurdFlow downpipe and exhaust

However, not sure it's going to happen. Had to take car off the road so I could afford to insure my new van. We'll see. I don't like to break the law when it comes to driving.

Jesus fucking christ. How long do I have to wait for my money on that bet where you think you are gonna make more than the Daily?

evank 03-26-2009 02:52 PM

Bet is still on. Will you accept another DynoJet location closer to home?

I'm confident about making 233hp, not so sure about the 235 ft. lb. ....

paul 03-26-2009 03:10 PM

Only if I re-dyno the daily since we have no idea how it compares directly to the dyno in DE. Eh, but then I have to pay to dyno again. Oh, and my setup will be completely different. Just let one of the Mobsters take your car down for you and we'll take care of it....

btw, did we actually bet money?

Fuck agreed maybe we need to do a florida one maybe north :jerkit: for the georgians as well?????

the_man 04-06-2009 09:49 AM

Any objection to an FSAE car or car(s) tagging along as well? They'd be paying. No more than two. Most likely one.

Edit: They'd help make the Miatas look large and powerful.

fmowry 04-06-2009 09:51 AM

Not looking good for me. I'm on vacation from the 24 to the 1st, so I won't have time to finish up stuff in the last week. If I could get it done beforehand that would be great.

Frank

Braineack 04-06-2009 10:18 AM

do it slacker.

y8s 04-06-2009 10:30 AM

building a v8 miata IS a vacation Frank!

fmowry 04-06-2009 12:51 PM

I finished the exhaust this past weekend so it ain't like I'm sitting on my ass!:

Frank

Braineack 04-06-2009 12:53 PM

I dare you to finish it and go to the dyno day. Double dog dare you.

fmowry 04-06-2009 12:55 PM

I'll try and get to the remaining wiring this weekend. If I can get that done and fire up HP tuners to check all the sensors, I might need to get one of you NOVA bitches over the following weekend to get the dash back on.

Not a problem at all. The more the merrier. If fact, I'm pretty sure that the U. of Delaware guys have dyno'd their FSAE car there.

Okay bitches, it's on like donkey kong.

Dyno day will start at 9am, and they'll stay until late if necessary. There is no need to RSVP, you can just come, even if it's last minute, but I will give dibs on slots to those that have semi-rsvp'ed here if we run low on slots.

Dyno address is 73 Albe Drive, Newark, DE 19702. Their number there is (302)369-0200.

Price will be $60 per car. That is for roughly four pulls with a wideband. Now they know us and have always been lenient with us in terms of semi-tuning on the dyno as well as getting more than four runs. That being said this is NOT a tuning day so let's not wear out our welcome. If you plan on making adjustments (diff spark maps/bandaids/etc...) between runs, please have as much as you can ready in advance so we can keep the flow of cars on/off the dyno a smooth affair.

If you plan on dynoing, when you get there, find me and sign a release for the dyno guys and I'll put you on the list. If you want to go kart racing, please let me know by 11am so we can call ahead to reserve a race, and bring your own helmet if you got one so you don't need a loaner.

Most importantly, food (pizza) is being provided by Rick our admin so make sure to thank him. You are always welcome to bring any drinks/snacks you want as well.

See you guys there!

Braineack 04-16-2009 10:26 PM

sounds like an announcement is in order....tomorrow, because im lazy right now.

ArtieParty 04-17-2009 09:44 AM

Update. My head is at a machine shop getting a rebuild done. I dropped it off yesterday during work (left for 5 hours) and the guy says to give him about a week. So whenever i get it back i have to plan with Paul when we can put it all together. May 2nd might be cutting it close, but if anything, I'll come done in the 96 just to hang out.

the_man 04-17-2009 09:51 AM

Alright, couple of statements/questions/whatever:

1. It would indeed be the U of D FSAE guys coming. If so, it'll only be one car (an older one) and I'd be paying, because we/they (I graduated so am no longer an official member) get unlimited dyno time there for the FSAE cars. And I don't feel like shelling out more than an additional $60.

2. Where is the pizza coming from?

3. Should I pick up a box of coffee/donuts/whatever on my way over?

Braineack 04-17-2009 09:53 AM

so we get to meet Hobie?

pizza is from the same place we always get it at, just down the street, pretty awesome.

donuts never hurt anyone!

the_man 04-17-2009 10:49 AM

Party pooper.

Hm, place down the street... I have to run down that way today to take one of our cats to the vet (same business park) and pick up another alternator for the pickup (same business park) and drop off a load of scrap metal (same business park), so I'll try to figure out what pizza place it is. Any way you cut it, I guarantee Margheritas pwns it. But it's cool. :D

Alright, I'll swing by Dunkin Donuts on my way over.

Hm, I really need to get a battery in the Miata...

Braineack 04-17-2009 10:56 AM

this is the parking lot:

http://boostedmiata.com/dyno_day_pic...odayiii010.jpg

It's KC's pizza; literally 2 minutes away. I like the stuff, beats anything I have in my area. Hell I live across the street from a pizza joint and I never go to it.

from: 73 Albe Drive, Ste. 1, Newark, DE 19702 (ACA Performance, LLC) to: 784 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702 (K C's Pizza) - Google Maps

the_man 04-17-2009 11:30 AM

Ok, I know which shopping center that is, I go by it to get to the business park. Not bad pizza overall, although Margherita's pwns all in the area. Not really worth the difference in distance, though. I actually stopped to grab many a bite at that pizza place back when I'd haul loads of scrap to the recycling yard 1-2 times a week. The kick of it is that the damn gas station there doesn't have diesel, so I could make an excuse to go farther out of my way to get diesel and a bite to eat as well, which was good, since I was an hourly employee, and excuses to waste time were awesome.

I'd definitely say that pizza in this area, in general, beats the crap out of anything in the Baltimore/DC/NOVA area. Having a large college population helps the pizza market a lot. "Average" for us is "pretty damn good" for your (formerly my) area.

Alright, enough of this tangent.

I'm helping out the FSAE guys with the lawnmower tuneup fundraiser today (and the rest of the weekend) so I'll talk to them about the details of maybe getting one of the cars out.

Crap, I gotta be there in less than an hour, so I need to get off my ass and take our fat ass (21 lbs+) cat to the vet.

minileprechaun 04-22-2009 11:46 AM

hey... i'm fairly new to the miata world. can i join in the fun and tag along?

my miata is still N/A, but i'd like to meet people and learn!

some sort of charger is in the plans...

~andrew

EDIT: i realize now that i've never posted in here. because i don't have a turbo miata. i've spent most of my time at miata.net (under the same name)

Braineack 04-22-2009 11:53 AM

Perfectly fine; I did invite you :P

There should be a VA/MD caravan, but I'll be up there Friday, as might a few others in the area.

minileprechaun 04-22-2009 12:56 PM

Do you know when/where the caravan is meeting before the drive on saturday?

can't go friday .. dane cook show! haha

oh .. and i don't have any need for the dyno .. but i am up for go-kart racing .. do they rent helmets?

Edit- First round would be on me. Offer stands for whoever is around Friday, provided there are no unforeseen disasters precluding me going out Friday evening.

y8s 04-27-2009 10:33 AM

I am moving slowly into the maybe/maybe not pile. Adaptronic doesn't love me yet.

airbrush1 04-27-2009 11:16 AM

I'm out :( car will just be getting back together today, and I'll need a re-tune before I can get on the dyno.

Braineack 04-27-2009 11:23 AM

tune on the way up!

you are sounding like louis. stop that please.

As it turns out, strangely enough, after resetting all my fuel/ignition trims and zeroing out all wastegate functions, this new single turbo ended up with the same EXACT map as my TT's after I tuned it, wastegate settings and all. Strange.

I forgot what torque in a miata felt like. Very fun!
