Here is my best time slip before I put the 99 head on. I have not tested the new set up yet. Naturally aspirated with no power adders.

It is hard to read.

1.834 60'
8.801 1/8 mile
77.53 mph
13.893 1/4 mile
96.09 mph

around what whp is this and what's going on? that trap is good for a very low 11. are yous spinning that much....

18psi 11-19-2009 01:56 AM

He already ran a low 11

thirdgen 11-19-2009 10:15 AM

2.536 60'
14.474 1/4mi.
101.77 mph
Stock motor, was running MS-1 parallel with CAS retrofit, 7psi, stock clutch (this is why the 60' was so bad).
Now running MS-2 standalone. Next drag slip will be after compressor wheel upgrade, clutch upgrade, 460cc injector swap, and EBC. I am hoping to go from 14's, skip right over the 13's and run like a 12.8 with a much better 60'.

I think it was around 350, with a very conservative spark map. The trap speed was good, but it doesn't tell the whole story. I don't spin in any gear, street or strip.

jtothawhat 11-19-2009 12:56 PM

I never fully understood how trap speed goes with ET. Now I know trap speed is an indicator of horsepower, but in your case if you're not spinning what else is factoring into it? I know that your 60' is in the 2.0 range and that's where a lot of your ET comes from, but is it simply because of your powerband? Or if you where to launch with a 2 step building boost off the line would that greatly improve your ET's?

JayL 11-19-2009 01:22 PM

Trap speed is more a reflection of the cars power. ET is a combination of everything with the launch being the biggest factor.

For example, miata2fast doesn't have a very powerful car and that's reflected in his trap speed of 96 mph. Yet he runs a good ET for his power level because he's able to launch the car hard and get it to stick with his choice of tires. Perfect example of a slow car being fast because of tires and a good driver that can maximize the package.

My car is just setup differently and I drive it differently. I have a powerful car and that's reflected in the 120+ trap speed. So for me, I run a slow ET for my power level because I don't launch and shift the car hard. Perfect example of a fast car being driven slow because if I launch and shift it hard things break.

Just needs to be updated, too many people without a time slip to back up the claim.

miata2fast 12-14-2009 10:37 PM

There should be a rule that only miata's regardless of motor, and non miata's using a bp motor or other miata based engine only. No supercharged V8 Mustangs on a miata data base.

10psi on a stock clutch? On 6psi and band aids I had enough power to overpower that stock pos.

thirdgen 08-14-2010 11:09 PM

13.9 at 101 mph on 9 psi with an sr20 t25 and a FM level 1 clutch.

When i bought the car, all the paperwork said the car had an act clutch. I dropped the tranny last week to replace the trow out bearing and we noticed the stock clutch and aluminum flywheel.
