Final TxMC events for 2011
well, i have the last 2 event dates. I've been trying to figure out where to squeeze in another, but it's not looking good. These are definite, if you guys have any suggestions for a 3rd, i'm willing to listen.
Sat. October 8th Harris Hill Road It's a members track day, gotta thank zx-tex for making this happen as he is a total member. lol,...there might not be timing available so we will have to be ready to help each other with this. Nice thing is it's open track day format so we can go out whenever we're ready and get some timed laps. Also, don't forget about the noise limit! if you think your car may be too loud, have a backup plan. A cheap muffler with a slip fitting or bolt on flange isn't very expensive and can prevent field fires. Sat. November 26th Texas World Speedway Nasa Tx. event. there will be amb timing and transponder rentals There is an open track day @ TWS on Fri. Oct. 28th available if you guys wanna do another event this season and can deal with only 3 weeks between H2R and TWS. |
I know I will be out for the October 8th race as we have Lemons the weekend before at MSR-H. I should be good at the November 26th depending on family plans for Thanksgiving.

Damn it... After telling me October 8th was available as a member day, H2R just sent out an e-mail stating they are having some kind of big BBQ and time trial event on October 8th. Here is the description...
Saturday October 8th from 9:00 to 6:00 – The H2R Clockwise / Counter Clockwise Time Trial and Bar-B-Que. In the weeks leading up to this event, the schedule will reflect which direction the track is run. This will allow participants to practice in both directions. During the event, we will have a time trial in the morning in one direction. We’ll break for Bar-B-Que and run an afternoon time trial in the other direction. This will be more about the driver than the car. The podium will not only be determined by the combined fastest times, but also who ran the most consistently between the two directions. For example, if I drive a hot lap clockwise in 1:00 and a hot lap counter clockwise in 2:00, my combined time is 3:00. But the differential is one whole minute. If you drive a 1:30 cw, and a 1:30 ccw your time is also 3:00 but you knocked me off the podium because your differential was zero. Here’s the best part: the three podium finishers are given the prize of being able to give a $2,500.00 membership to a buddy who wants to join but can’t justify or come up with the initial membership fee. Please register with us no later than September 24th so we can get a head-count on how much B-B-Q we need to have catered. Finally, in the event that it’s raining cats and dogs on the 8th, we’ll set aside October 22nd as a make-up date. |

I have a random question for you guys. Does Texas World Speedway have an entry fee? Say I just happened to be in Texas around the end of November and wanted to come hang out that weekend at the track with you gays. Could I get in and camp?

The following weekend is no good. I will be out of town. The e-mail I sent to H2R was replied to by an auto responder since the track is closed right now. I should hear something next week.

yes, you could get in and camp/hangout. no there shouldn't be an entry fee, but there has been some controversy over this at the last couple events. recently they started charging to "drop off" your car/trailer before an event, or, strangely (is that spelled right?) a cheaper charge if your coming and camping out. (i.e. staying with your vehicle?) although, if your pulling in with a rental impala, or your personal truck or car without stickers or the appearance of tracking a vehicle, there is no charge. or shouldn't be. sorry i couldn't be more help. if there is a charge, it would most likely be a one time charge of $10-15 for the weekend. Also note, the gate closes @ 10pm and won't open again till 6am. so get there before that and don't expect to leave afterwards. Although, our fearless NASA region leader is supposed to do something about the locked gate, and the fee if possible.

Seriously though, I live 7-minutes from DFW airport and plan to have a party van and if you come here when the weather is nice you can borrow my daily or the van instead of renting a car.

TWS on Thankgiving sounds great to me. That track is unreal, I'm never lower than 4th gear. It feels like "Baby-leMans".

I don't know what trans you're on, but if you break something I have a garage full of parts, I'll probably have a trailer...and I even have a spare 6-speed if things go down-hill for your 5-speed. Actually, I have a free 5-speed if you broke that guy on the track.

While I would love to actually do that track day at TWS, I am a bit scared of tracking my car when I am halfway across the country from where I live. I might also not have the budget to drop $300-$400 on the weekend. We will see how things look when the date gets closer. All else fails I will be your guys track bitch and help with whatever is needed. |
What kind of a ****** drives half way across the country in his track car...to watch?
I've driven my car to Hallett 5 times, TWS twice, Austin 3 times, MSR-H 3 times, MSR-C twice, and ECR 3 times. I've made it back every time. If you have a 6-speed, Inco safety-wired Inco CHRA bolts, heat sheilding over the turbo parts, a large ducted radiator, and an oil cooler, you will make it back to tobacco country. I take a spare timing belt kit, wheel bearings, CAS, coils, roofies, igniter, rubber sheets, slave cylinder, rotors, and brake pads to every track event. I do this because I want to drive all day long...driving home is the easy part. The only thing that's going to keep your car from going back home is a hole in the block. |

You can safety wire in two days at the most after taking them out and getting them drilled, the oil cooler is cheap.

I confirmed with the track that the BBQ event on October 8th is for members only. You can come as a spectator, but you cannot go out on the track.
Here is how the weekends in October line up: - Sat October 1st is not available due to an event (Elite Track Days). - Sun October 2nd is open though it seems like someone had a conflict with that weekend. - Sat October 8th is a member's only event - Sun October 9th is a regular member day so that one will work. - Sat-Sun October 15-16 no good, I have a travel conflict - Sat-Sun October 22-23 no good, I have a travel conflict - Sat October 29th is ART Time Trials - Sat October 30th is a regular member day so that one will work also. So one thing that comes to mind is a possible double-header. Hit the ART event on Saturday Oct 29, stay over, TxMC on Sunday Oct 30. |

not down with ART... they don't want you unless you have a viper, or spent $$$ at their shop. but that's just how i feel about it. i'm sure they like sombody, although at the last event they were talkin' shit about all non vipers. |

$200 guest fee. Open track all day, come and go on and off as you please. Things should have cooled off a lot by then so the afternoon track time will be enjoyable; historically the high is in the mid 80s and the low is in the low 60s. It could be warmer than usual this year but the upper 90s heat should be gone by then. I'll wager the fast laps will be in the afternoon.
Let me know in this thread if you will be attending so we will know how many to expect. For an extra $30 per person, in advance, I'll have mineral water there :jerkit: Either that or you guys can teabag Hustler. Some say that his testicles are made from rock because brass is not hard enough. And that that he drinks mineral water regularly to sustain their size. All we know is he is called The Hustler. I presume we will be running the track CW. CCW is much trickier IMO so those who have not run it in that direction will be at a disadvantage. |
BTW H2R is apparently installing a new timing system this week so we should have timing available at the event. Before anyone asks, I do not know anything about it other than it is 'new'.
