round 6 of TxMC @ Eagles Canyon!

We're coming up on the end of our first season! This was scheduled to be our last event, but hopefully with some help from Team MER, the season final @ msr-c will happen nov. 21st or 22nd. either way, we need people to actually show up so we can finish this season off right! for those of you running nasa's time trial or race groups, this will be the season ender. i'm gonna do my best to be ready for ECR. i have a new ecu harness coming to fix the problems i had at TWS. hopefully i'll be able to play this time.

anyway's, registration is open at http://www.nasaproracing.com/event/1088
also, the late fee is now only $25 if you don't pre-register 7 days prior.

see you guys at the track!

hustler 09-04-2010 10:03 PM

I'll be at anything in DFW of course.

jeff_man 09-04-2010 11:24 PM

trying to being the car out, not sure if nasa is going to let me run or not, still have to get all my car classes bs done

spoolin2bars 09-05-2010 04:18 AM

what? no such thing, if you take your car, you CAN run. no "classes" in hpde.

hustler 09-05-2010 09:14 AM

Jeff,
you'll have to do bode one day to get the check ride. Get ready for metal on metal, lol.

Just a reminder to the TxMC crew down South, my house is 24 miles from the track and it's got plenty of space (may want to bring a pillow, blanket or bag).

Save on the hotel fees. I figure to bbq on Fr/Sa and possibly have a TxMC poker tournament if you are up for the challenge.

Same goes for any of the Northern crew, stop by, eat and stay over if you like.

(post here or pm me just so I'll have an idea how much food to get and to get you the address)

We're still running on 10/2 which is Saturday, correct? I signed up for HPDE, I guess I'll start running TT next time, although I'm still somewhat afraid of the contact.

sixace 09-21-2010 06:50 PM

Yup, TxMC is Saturday. As far as contact in TT, it's not a worry to me. Nobody wants that and everyone still gives point by's ('cept we do it in the corners too). Also seems to be less congested that most hpde's.

why do you keep saying that? there's no contact! it's NOT wheel to wheel. :vash: you've mentioned it every single time you said tt for the past year. where did you get that in your head?

sixace i'm in, got dibs on floor in front of the tv!

yes, miata challenge on sat.

At MSR-C the chairman said there was contact in TT every day this year. Is this incorrect?

I would say that is incorrect. I ran PCA TT there earlier this year w/o incident.

Three NASA TT's so far this year (TWSx2 & Hallett) w/o incident.

I seriously believe that there is a better chance of contact in hpde.

Biggest difference is you can "win" at TT.

spoolin2bars 09-21-2010 11:08 PM

chairman? were you at a board meeting? ive gone to every single event this year, am friends with or know most of the usual suspects in tt and have yet to see 2 cars make contact. maybe he was talking about contact with tires, walls, etc....
besides, msr-c was only the 2nd event of the year. or were you talking to someone from msr-c lately? if it was apex or drivers edge or some other COMPETEING organization, you can understand why he's full of shit.

The chair/president/NASA leader guy whatever. I thought he said there was "metal on metal" at every event this year. You guys have pretty much indicated that I'm wrong.

the director of the tx region Jay matus? not in tt, that might be true of spec miata or American iron. again, those are actual race classes, wheel to wheel, not time trial. you should just play it safe though, stay in hpde. lol

hustler 09-22-2010 08:02 AM

Don't poz me, bro.

I guess I'll finalize the TT license thing next weekend then.

lol, that's more like it.

spoolin2bars 09-29-2010 10:42 AM

well, it's not looking too good for me. I replaced the ecu harness and it still cut off. I had a Guy look at the ecu but didn't find anything, I should have gave him my old harness to plug in and mess with. unless a miracle happens today, I'm gonna have to sit this one out.

hustler 09-29-2010 11:14 AM

This is very sad. I'm going still, even with the brake problem, lol.

Bond 09-29-2010 11:17 AM

I'll ride my bike up there for moral support.

jeff_man 09-29-2010 11:39 AM

asts wont be on the car in time. was hoping to come out and take home a trophy. o well.

Machismo 10-01-2010 09:05 AM

Savanna and I will stop by for some support... won't be in the Miata though. :giggle:

hustler 10-01-2010 10:55 AM

Brake drama is severe, gentlemen. I'm dismantling everything, dressing the threads in sealant, reassembling, then hopefully the pressure bleeder adapter cap I made will hold enough pressure to bleed. Offer virgin blood to Lucifer for my success.

it ran perfect at hallett. its currently sitting on jack stands with no suspension. monoflex ship out today.

SnakeKP 10-01-2010 03:09 PM

Good luck guys, everyone drive safe and smart.

sixace 10-01-2010 07:29 PM

At the test-n-tune today they ran two groups, 30 on 30 off. Its was "miatas" in group one and "everyone else" in group two. LOL. Me and 17 SM/SSM's on the track at the same time was "interesting". Sorta like driving in a bees nest.

First session, cool track temps, I lost count of the offs and spins in front of me (9-10 ? and I was not pushing them at all.. much). Second session, I let them all go out for a half lap lead and the carnagewas less, (cept for one SM that went off left, then tried the hero move and snap spun across the track to the right, barely missing the SM in front of me by inches at around 90 mph. I came in to check my shorts. Shoulda had the cam running..There were no apex cones left standing and a few were deposited on the track here and there.

Sat out the next session and was watching some friends in ST/ST2 from the hill. After the session, the pinatas were up again (my session) and within around 5 laps the whole field appeared to be brought in for a "talkin to" about the "racin" and rock throwin that was going on.

Subsequent sessions we all played nice and not having rocks on half the apexes make for better laps.

Good times!

Double O 86 10-02-2010 03:15 PM

And you're in the backup car, right? Imagine if you were in the fast one. :brain:

sixace 10-03-2010 12:52 AM

Nope. Got the Black one back on track for ECR. Hit the track with 400 breakin miles on the new motor and a pretty rich tune. Feels slow, but its likely the driver..

That was a long day. Matt drove my car for a session and the throttle stuck at over 120mph into braking, but he and the car were perfectly alright. I ran dog-shit times all day and I'm pretty afraid of that track because there are several place where you're braking from over 100mph down to roughly 40mph and there are nasty, rough humps where the tires bark a few times while slowing down. There is also about 10' of run-off in most corners where you get a rock garden prior to ditches. It was a long day and I didn't even get under the SM record which sucks ass, but I don't plan to return to that track any time soon. I do plan to hit MSR in the next few weeks and crush.

Bond 10-03-2010 02:46 PM

Run off at ECR is shit. The braking zones are washboarded, atleast they moved the haybails and guardrail farther back on the east side of the track. They really skimped on the build quality of the track.

johnwag 10-04-2010 12:24 AM

Big thanks to Quan for letting me drive his NC for 3 events this season. That car was absolutely trouble free all year. We put a wrench on it for the first time yesterday when we noticed that two header flange nuts were missing. One hardware store trip later and everything was fine.

Thanks also to sixace who let me drive his car. I underdrove it and left alot of time on the track. I had never driven on Hoosiers before. HOLY CRAP they have a ton of grip!

Sixace, did you run a 2:03.xx?

That track has really gone to shit! It's likely that I won't be back until the track is seriously repaired. Washboard braking zones, runoff with moguls and a pit exit lined with ditches is unacceptable.

Speaking of repaired tracks, Harris Hill has a fresh coat of asphalt! Today was an asphalt curing day for members to do touring laps, with street tires, on the track. We need to do an event there soon.

spoolin2bars 10-04-2010 02:49 AM

I'm running the coastal bend pca event there on Oct. 30th. its a de/tt format with 3 solo timed laps at the end of the day. you guys might get to see my Turbo/ls swapped, rear mount radiator crx if I can't get my miata fixed by then!

hustler 10-04-2010 09:26 AM

Sixace,
Please tell me the cam was running when my car went airborne, lol.

I will probably show up for H2R.

Sorry no. Some moron left it on and recorded over an hour of exciting paddock coverage. The stuck throttle off was "exciting" to see right in front of me and I'm glad the car and Matt came out of it ok..

Not even close. 2:06.652 was best I could manage on Saturday (lots of crappy excuses). Your short session in my car produced a 2:05.776. Car needs a proper ecu/tune. I was not real happy with my times, but life goes on.

Sunday should have been better, but you alredy heard the story on that fail. I post a vid in a while..Thanks for the help with the clutch and shock adjustments, and stopping by today for a bit.

I'm glad I dropped by ECR this weekend, it really got me motivated to get on track again.
I'm going to try to show up for the H2R event too. I just picked up a MSM 6-speed today.
If I can find a wiring harness I can steal a tps and iacv pigtail from in a few weeks. I'll be back to NA in time for this event.
Hey Jake do you have any spare stock 1.8 injectors?

sixace 10-05-2010 01:14 AM

Here's a link to my fail vid from ECR this weekend...

Hmmm, maybe but I wouldn't run thm without sending them off. Sell the ones you have plus stock injectors.

Spoolin2bars, how about some results from Saturday as well as season points? :ughug:
