Here's a video of a S2000/NSX group drive I did a few years ago. This was just east of Tampa. They haven't realeased the map yet but I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up on some of the same roads. Fast forward to 1:30 in the video for the actual drive:
Edit, I guess I'm retarded I can't get anything to imbed: YouTube - Florida S2000 Group Drive
It's certainly no dragon, but it was a lot more fun than anything I've seen around here.

I'd like to get a chance to meet you if we both end up going. Are you going to be in town on Jan 31st? I'd love to have you come up for the big autocross event.

I run with the guys from the Florida Corvette Racing Club because they have the best autocross events in the area. The guys are very easygoing and not like some of the uptight rules, rules, rules, types.
They have long, fast courses with nice sweepers and great layouts. These guys are really just car guys and not Corvette nuts. There is always a wide mix of cars there. I am actually a member even though I don't have a 'vette. The best part is the fact that you can get so many runs in a day that you are just exhausted. I love it.
This event will be held on a wide (former Air Force) concrete runway, so the surface is really good. The club has used a makeshift road course at the State Fairgrounds in the past as well.
The link for the event is www.floridacorvetteracing.com
If you are interested in going, several of us meet at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast by I-75 and I-4 near Tampa, and then drive to the event location. Event location is just north of Tampa at the Hernando County Airport.
I'd like to meet you and see your car. I've never actually seen a turbo Miata in person.

What classing system do they use? IOW, I'm SM2 in SCCA Solo. Do they even bother? Any other rules I should be aware of, having only run SCCA-sanctioned events previously?
Also, what time's breakfast?

Tech is a bit relaxed these days...
We meet at 7:00, but that is a bit of a PITA for you. If you come, I'll buy.
Directions for breakfast: I-75N to I-4 Eastbound. The very next exit is "CR579 Mango." Get off there and go left over the interstate. Turn left before the Flying J Truckstop and go to stop sign. Turn left and circle the RV center back towards the interstate to the Cracker Barrell that fronts I-4.
I'm really looking forward meeting you and to seeing your car.

Excellent. I'll put your name on the guest list.
All you really need is a helmet. They technically want a Snell 2000 or better but they will tolerate anything that looks like a helmet on your first time out (they have loaners).

Nah. I got it.
Heh. It's honestly not much to look at from the outside. Just a plain 'ole '92 at more-or-less stock height, with fading original paint. Having lived in CA for several years (and an illegal turbo system), I value stealth insofar as not attracting the attention of LEOs who might be inclined to wonder what's under the hood.
I really want to study your installation, though. I am foremost a gearhead. Mechanical objects are things of beauty and marvels of engineering thought and expertise (except for Chrysler products).

Is it just me, or did interest in the Run evaporate all of a sudden? The TR forum has been stagnant for a couple of days, and I've emailed the address above twice (from two accounts) asking about route info, and got delivery failures on both.

It is still a good while off. I didn't see where the forums had a large number of users, either. I'm sure things will heat up as it draws near.
I went to an enormous get-together of turbo awd cars as a guest this Saturday. There had to be 90 cars there. There were WRXs, Evos, Skyline GT-Rs, etc. there. They met in one location for an hour and a half, then went to another location for an hour and a half, then the next, etc. Four locations total.
Some people took it easy between locations and some had a bit more fun with it. I didn't see anybody pulled over and should have seen many. The locations were 10-25 miles apart.

If you guys want the course map post up or pm me your email and I'll send it to you. They're trying to keep it kinda quiet so we don't attract any unwanted attention so I don't want to post it up.

There are some really fun roads in Pasco County. Curely Rd from SR 54 to SR52. Jessamine Rd to Pasco 41. The the road from Pasco 41 through tribly is a blast. I am sure there are plenty more out there, but those roads cut through orange groves, have some good turns, hill, and so on. The Dade City/Brooksville area is hilly for some reason.
