Damn, I wish I had been there to lay down some smack down in my lowly supercharged miata or maybe the 1.6l spec miata. :D

John,
Any news on the turbo?

What kind of IATs were you seeing on the track? I'd be surprised if that intercooler didn't heat soak.

Nice pic jeff_man thanks. That must be the horseshoe exit. It looks like my inside front is about to lift, not much load on it, but it felt fine. No sudden pushing.

No news on the turbo yet other than it is definitely wasted. It will need a new CHRA at a minimum, and maybe a compressor housing. The turbine housing looks OK. I shipped it back to BEGI and they are going to send it back to their supplier for further examination. I have my fingers crossed on the warranty. It had plenty of oil feed all the way to the turbo oil inlet, the oil drain line was OK, and all of the coolant lines were OK; I checked all that.

IAT according to one of the logs I ran stabilized at about 60C or 140F max, or in other words the 'heat-soaked' condition. That is not including the additional temperature drop from the WI. I might reposition the IAT to look at post-WI-nozzle temps.

How many Miatae were there? How many FI cars? Around here my turbo Miata is an anomaly. Curly and I are about the only two that hit the track with any regularity. Caymans and M series Bimmers are still shocked when a lowly 15 year old Miata needs pointing by. With that many in your area showing up for TRD, you can't be suprising too many people at other events.

don't count on it. i still freak people out at every event i go to in south/central tx. some people say it looks quick, but still can't believe it when they get the blue/yellow flag. especially porsche and vette owners. lol
p.s. they almost have a heart attack when they get passed on the straights!

hahaha i love you mr. mod

800whp supercharged srt10, ran the gumball 3000 09 but street cars can't hang with track cars. so it's not that impressive to people that know.

ZX-Tex 05-30-2009 03:11 PM

Agreed, nice series of pictures. Nice job Joe :bigtu:
