Tx. Miata Challenge rd. 4 @ Harris Hill Road!!!

Just a heads up on our first independant event being held at H2R on june
18th. There will be several run groups and the event will run like a HPDE/Time trial format. It's open to cars of all makes, but since it's a "miata challenge" event, I'd like as many miata's as possible to participate. To aid in that, Eric at H2R is waiting to really advertise the event for a little while. So please sign up as soon as you can to ensure your spot. Here's the details from www.clubregistration.net

Event Name Texas Miata Challenge

Club Harris Hill Road
Registrar eric@harrishillroad.com
Location H2R
Event Dates 06/18/11 - 06/18/11
Registration Opens 04/19/11 12:00 AM (members) (central time zone)
04/19/11 (all)
06/13/11 (closes) (12:00am central time zone)
Description Texas Miata Challenge and H2R have paired up to put together an all-day, DE-style Time Trial event.

This event is open to cars of ANY make and model, as long as they meet H2R's 99dBA sound limit, and have proper safety equipment.

Drivers must be soloed by a recognized DE organization, have a race license, or be approved by the Texas Miata Challenge. H2R members are also eligible to participate.

All 1st and 2nd generation Miatas *must* have proper rollover protection. No need for a transponder, as H2R will provide all timing equipment for the day.

Spec Miata registrants are eligible for all sessions and will be automatically entered in the demo race at the end of the event.

Lunch will be provided for all paid registrants.

See you at the track!

rharris19 05-09-2011 03:18 PM

Registered with yellow car. This should be interesting.

Pitlab77 05-09-2011 05:32 PM

As someone asked somewhere else will there be a novice group?

ZX-Tex 05-09-2011 06:43 PM

Spoolin any discussion on the rate for current members? Is the track dedicated that day to this event, or is it still open to member use?

hustler 05-09-2011 07:16 PM

Paid

You have to be a solo driver.

Sure, blue and above. No instructors, although some us that are might be coerced into riding if someone needs some track pointers.

No discussion, but I think there's prices listed if you go to club registration. And I've never heard of any event that was open to members usage, so I'm pretty sure the answer is no. You have to sign up and pay like the rest of us. Well, a little less but you have to pay nonetheless!

ZX-Tex 05-09-2011 08:37 PM

OK yeah if it is a dedicated event then I'll have to pay to play.

ZX-Tex 05-09-2011 08:46 PM

OK there is a reduced fee for members, $55.

spoolin2bars 05-09-2011 10:01 PM

the power was always at your fingertips. thanks for signing up.

Btw, new rule: miata challenge drivers with memberships at the track we are about to visit may not go there less than 30 days before said event.

violaters will be subject to the harshest punishment including (but not limited to) warm golden waterboarding, deviled egg hustler dutch oven, drunken jake belittlement, 4loco diet, etc...

ZX-Tex 05-09-2011 10:28 PM

Nooooooo, not the 4loco.

spoolin2bars 05-09-2011 11:50 PM

lol, it's awesome that considering the possibilities, the 4loco was the one that got to you!

jacob300zx 05-10-2011 05:41 PM

4loco!

ZX-Tex 05-17-2011 05:17 PM

OK I would like to officially request that the 30 day limit be decreased to 27 days so that I can go this weekend :D I did not get to take the Miata last weekend and took the M3 instead. Geez what a pig it is compared to the Miata. 10 seconds slower.

okay, but you MUST carry the hall pass with you at all times!

ZX-Tex 05-17-2011 10:18 PM

The hall pass is not a can of 4loco is it?

No wait, that would be a HURL pass.

spoolin2bars 06-02-2011 11:37 AM

couple weeks!

ZX-Tex 06-02-2011 05:57 PM

I know it is coming up fast and I have stuff to do to the car! Normally that is enough time but work is getting busier, including some travel.

hustler 06-02-2011 08:46 PM

Who will overheat?

spoolin2bars 06-02-2011 09:31 PM

not me i hope. never had an issue with hitler nose. i pray catfish II with ductwork won't let me down.

hustler 06-02-2011 09:43 PM

Is there any info on tech and if I can self tech or use my NASA log book?

No crap, same here. I haven't worked on my car in months because of work and I only have a few things that I really need to do to get it done.

spoolin2bars 06-16-2011 06:25 PM

for those that were asking, here is a provisional schedule, which has not been signed off on by h2r yet but should be good to go. for you TxMC drivers there may be a slight change in procedure due to complications beyond our control. those of you that work well under pressure may like it!

8am - gates open
8:45am - drivers meeting
9am - track hot

9am - TT1
9:25 - TT2
9:50 - TT3
10:15 - TT4
10:35-10:40 track check

10:45 - TT1
11:10 - TT2
11:35 - TT3
12:00 - TT4
12:25 - 1pm track cold, lunch served 11:30 - 1pm, track check

1pm - TT1
1:25 - TT2
1:50 - TT3
2:15 - TT4
2:35 - 2:40 track check

2:45 - TT1
3:05 - TT2
3:25 - TT3
3:45 - TT4

4:00 - TT timing starts
5:00 - track cold/awards

ZX-Tex 06-17-2011 09:58 AM

OK I have about a billion questions but I will limit it to two:
1. I assume the TT1 - TT4 classes are split by driver experience (as usual) and not by the car?
2. I see the "4:00 - TT timing starts" period on the schedule. Am I inferring correctly or incorrectly that we will be timed for awards in that session only? And if this is the correct inference, is everyone on the track at once for that timing session? If so, IMO, that is a recipe for chaos.

Pitlab77 06-18-2011 08:30 AM

Got up to late. By the time I get there I will have to be coming right back. Have a class I have to be at tomorrow. Enjoy the sweltering heat.

rharris19 06-19-2011 11:46 AM

Well that was an interesting day. On my first lap I get black flagged for having an exhaust too loud. They registered it at a 117, but there is no way in hell. Over 99, yes, but no way a 117. So I went to get a muffler to strap on and as soon as we rig this crap up and get back out there, the track catches on fire to end the day. I will upload pictures of both later if I can figure out where they are.

wow. Glad I didnt drive just to watch. I'd be ticked I had driven 3 hours to get there to find out that track was closed and have to face driving 3 hours straight back.

Yeah, JZ is manly. I got out there and tried to throw down a lap but I'm 4-seconds behind, lol. It was 101*f by that time, I was already on greasy tires, and did I mention it was 100*f+? On my cool down I was cruising in 6th and still managed to dorifto the car at 3500rpm, in 6th.

Some say he's stingy with the reacharound, Some say he's Shumi in the wet stuff, all we know is, he's called The Hustler..

Some say that he can open beer bottles telekinetically, and that his chassis setup is a State secret protected by the NSA. All we know is, he's called the Hustler.

hustler 06-22-2011 03:20 PM

I like the direction this thread is going.

ZX-Tex 06-24-2011 01:17 PM

Some say that brake pads squeal with delight when he is nearby, and that only he can hear them since the squeals are ultrasonic. All we know is he is called the Hustler.

So when is the next TxMC event? I cannot find the schedule and the supermiata site is still down.

jacob300zx 06-24-2011 03:37 PM

Some say he inspired a song by Cake, others say he strength comes from passing Porsche's at the track. All we know is his name is Hustler.

only concrete date is nov. @ tws, i was trying to find a club renting out h2r to join in on. but i think it would be better and easier to just go during a member's day. i'm assuming about 10 drivers, we could pay for 4 or 8hrs. do you know how many cars can run as guests of a member? i'm sure we could get a few more members to meet us there, miata or not, for a day of fun if that's required also. I'm thinking mid-late Oct. on a Fri. Can you find out about that for us john? Other than that if you guys want another date on the calender there's always Aug. 6th TWS, but of course it's still hellish hot at that time.

sample schedule looks like:

Aug. 6th TWS 2.9cw*
Oct. 21st H2R 1.8cw*
Nov. 26th TWS 2.9ccw final
*tentative dates

Thanks John for the dates. I'm marking my calendar for upcoming candidate track events. I may go into Texas hibernation for the next month or two. I'll look into H2R.

Some say that his fillings are made from melted-down piston rods, and that his fingernails are kept precisely shaved for use as gap gauges. All we know is he's called the Hustler.

Great video, but here are two suggestions anyway:

Put the camera higher (if you can't see the hood, it's not high enough) and the window wipers lower. Better yet, remove the wipers - it was a hot, sunny day, what do you need wipers for?

hustler 06-26-2011 11:42 AM

Count me in for HHR in September, I may bring my sister down for one too. She's been denying herself liberty by not attending these.

I'm doing both, they're not in the same month but I can't keep it straight. Hopefully, when that time comes I'll drive 4-hours in the right direction (north or south). lol

ZX-Tex 06-27-2011 06:48 PM

Some say that he runs a 3" exhaust because he cannot make love to anything smaller, and that his driving suit is reversed for protection from the inside-out. All we know is he is called the Hustler.

Spoolin send me a pm with your e-mail address. I have some initial feedback from H2R on a TxMC event. Nothing exciting.
