Default 2000 Supercharged Miata (yea..not turbo)

So here it is, My asphalt eating street machine Known as "Big Gulp"

She was built in 03-04 by RJW on Miata.net, Or Richard as most know him, as a proof of concept. The First Coldside Supercharged Miata and as far as I know, still the record holder for highest RWHP from a supercharged Miata, at 347 i think. I purchased her in Feb. 13th and drove her from Miami to Tennessee.

I intend to clean up the motor, repaint the black and have everything red powder coated this winter. Currently I have to get a good tune on it so I can run past half throttle. However, she is pretty damn fast at half throttle

Looks good, +1 on cleaning up that hideous engine bay. Also be careful and make sure to get her tuned before you end up with a hole in the block!

Looks rad.

At WOT it sounds like an Indy car!!! And gets the attention of EVERY Single cop for a mile radius!!! 2 tickets in my first week. I wore earplugs almost the whole way back from Florida. But I did make the Drive from Miami to Knoxville in 14 hours

My wife says it sounds like a Tie FIghter as it flies by.

I'm confused, everyone with a supercharger complains about driveability issues. I had driveability issues with my turbo. Then I pressed the "autotune" button and it's smooth as silk now. What's stopping the supercharger guys from adding a MS and doing this?!?

As I understand it the huge volume between the TB and the head is the primary cause. Thats pretty hard for a speed density system or an AFM system to deal with I guess. I and not entirely sure, but differences in temp (there would be very large ones with a cold-side SC in the intake post TB) would make for some odd behavior with so much volume and thus mass of air to deal with. AKA, a 1L plenum wont fluctute much in terms of mass-air-contained even as temps change. A 4L will.

That car made 340rwhp/310rwtq at one point....pretty damn nice numbers. I was always drooling over that site when I had s/c'ed Miatas.

As for the red spray paint.... yea......

As I said in my original post, this winter the black is getting repainted black, all the red is getting powercoated. The PO painted it with caliper paint while still assembled. No biggie, just not the best look in the world

Doppleganger, the basic plan now is to make 400 RWHP by the end of next summer

Pull that valve cover off, spray the area around it black and then put it back on...problem solved.

Different... Nice! That charger reminds me of the Lyscomb screw on the Millenia S I had years back.

so 347whp, with or without NOS ?

Gordon (Trackdayhookey), makes 330whp on his Rotrex Miata. that's on Superflow chassis dyno, if on Church's Dynojet, it is ~360whp.

We have a guy in our group that does powder coating. I intend to have all the red powder coated. It does not look that good in person.
