ha. haha. mod powers FTL. haha.

Cspence 03-15-2010 10:41 PM

One day I'll sport a absurdflow mani.....that or an artech :giggle: Your shit is nice though!

TurboTim 03-15-2010 10:43 PM

Can't go wrong with Abe/artech, especially if you've got a 1.6.

turotufas 03-15-2010 11:07 PM

F5 worked ahaha. Man I wish I had a time machine! Da shit look beautiful.

thesnowboarder 03-16-2010 03:43 AM

Please tell me that the size of the tial housing inlet and outlets are different for different turbos

PS. I like what i see on the "boo pic" call me when your ready Tim.

TurboTim 03-16-2010 07:42 AM

The GT30 turbine inlet/outlet size & location match the GT28 turbine. Sooo theoretically this would drop right into your setup. ;)

Could you do me a huge favor Nick? Take some pics of your setup around the compressor. I need to see how close it is to the block and engine bay. Thanks xoxo.

EDIT: I have this one from Artie's car and there seems to be a lot of room for the larger GT30 compressor. but the vbands tend to end up in different spots and I try to clock them away from the block, towards the engine shelf.

I know your .86 turbine hits that motor mount bolt, but artie's 2560 has lots of room there. But this orientation won't work with the GT30, compressor would hit the block.

Braineack 03-16-2010 08:24 AM

If you put it on an angle like Ed's manifold, looks like it'd be okay.

once it was fixed, i fixed everything.

also: turbo not hit block.

btw, if I ever need another turbo manifold... I'm coming to Tim. Also, my 2876 probably would hit block.

minime 03-16-2010 12:22 PM

MINI-MOI wants CHOCOLATE!

Tim, I can't wait to strap that mofo on my new engine

Damn I hope Lev's turbo not hit block with his big 2871. Although I did push his out closer to the frame rail to make sure there was room.

Its fun that you make manifolds for people on my coast and I make them for people on your coast.

Yeah I figured as much. I'd love to have my stuff on your car. Thanks for the endorsement :)

TimR 03-16-2010 12:54 PM

zomg  do you collect turbos err what? wanna share?

Rafa 03-16-2010 12:58 PM

Tim, can you please post a pic of the downpipe connected to the mani? I want to see how much room there is.

Thanks,

BTW; beautiful work. I just don't like the color of the steel once it's been used.

Ha! One's a gutted chinese turbo, another a busted 2560, another off the original twins, the big one isn't mine, but the 2860rs and the twins are for sale :)

Rafa,

All I have for pics are the ones located here:
Absurdflow SS Vband Blended EWG

Like this one:

Actually this one is ok.
http://www.absurdflow.com/miata/stdv...bsurdflow3.jpg
I don't have much on the car because they don't come out well. I do this all in my garage on my back so there's not much room to place the camera to get a good shot, from underneath anyway.

Rafa 03-16-2010 04:35 PM

That was perfect Tim. Precisely what I wanted to see.

Many thanks

Mike, how is your motor coming along? Did you have Cardelli do it? Email/call/text/pm me if you want.

haha true! Go figure eh. Andrew's 52trim 2871 fit ok but the vband arrangement is a little different.

I can't fulfill Andrew's requirements so unfortunately no time for more sponsored vehicles :(

FastColt 03-18-2010 06:12 AM

Those tial vband hitsides, are soooooooo baller. Its so worth the extra money if you can afford it. My next Turbo set up will involve one....

TurboTim 04-20-2010 11:19 PM

More pics I took tonight. FINALLY received the correct turbo, the "compact" GT3071R. It's in the middle, GT2860RS on the left, standard compressor GT3071R on the right.

4 pics below. Hit refresh if they don't show.

I wonder what kind of spool the "small" 3071 will produce... Lets hope i don't regret my turbo decision... sigh

TurboTim 04-21-2010 04:26 PM

You can upgrade and sell someone your 2860. or run the 2860 on shorter tracks. Be baller.

+1. I would like to know also so I can decide between compact 3071R or 2871R

thesnowboarder 04-21-2010 04:43 PM

I wouldn't mind knowing if it would fit either ;)

aznDragonX 04-21-2010 05:31 PM

Tim, YGM! BTW, do you get your turbo, Tial stuff from ATP? Just found out they are about 5 mins away from my friend's speedshop in Hayward.

membership has its privileges, bro. Now excuse me while I get into a little Cru Grande Dame and Iranian Caspian.

To anyone considering buying some of Tim's stuff, you're making the right decision. After safety-wiring my CHRA I've done countless events and not worked on the turbo crap once...never put a wrench on it. I wish I could have used Tim sooner.

aznDragonX 04-21-2010 05:56 PM

we need a Absurdflow Demographics chart!!

I agree. I am gonna rock Absurdflow decals on my racecar even without any discount/sponsorship - his work is amazing.

I was referring to the champaign and caviar that Tim sends me so I'll use his stuff.
