Stick to the basics, that means no corporate support.

Phone vs phone, to me the Bold is a much better "tool" then the Iphone.

I personally have a 8100G, but as soon as the price comes down im gonna get a Bold for myself.

Personally, my favorite feature of the blackberry, built in GPS. Google maps on the blackberry pretty much owns the iphone in every way.

I bought a Tmobile wing a year and a half ago thinking it was really nifty with the touch screen and qwerty keyboard.

Now I hate it. I just want a clamshell phone that will SMS and make/take phone calls. The best thing I can do with the "nifty" **** on my phone is google maps.

I do like the iPods though. That is the only Apple product that I have bought.

Blackberry is a PITA if your company uses exchange, the ability to view documents is better on the iphone (although you can edit on a blackberry), iphone has GPS and google maps. A co-worker has the storm, definitely not as nice as the iphone although the replaceable battery is better. iphone has a better webbrowser.

Again comes down to needs, I need contacts, and I need them updated instantly.

And there is nothing i love more than riding my motocycle listening to music, advancing, and restarting songs, and answering calls.

i like my sony ericsson w810i bar phone. i can do google maps and imap email and opera browser and have unlimited data and tethering and can install apps. oh and can swap in a memory stick as needed. and send mms and record videos and take pictures etc etc.

Cellphones: My LG rumor is a surprising tough, dependable and nifty tool. If you don't mind paying Sprint for expensive data packages. Nav isn't bad, but my Garmin is better.

Macs: Great machines, own several, and love the iPods. My three year old iMac never shuts down, is still faster than anything entry level today, and my two year old can use it (my wife can too, holy ****).

I do like my HP laptop though, now that I finally partitioned it.

I've been using pcs and apples for the last twenty plus years, and still do. IMO paying more for a more reliable work environment on the pc is worth it. In nine months I just had my first os crash on macbook. That's with an average use of 8 hours a day 7 days a week. On the flip side I've been using a mac 6100 with an add-in accelerator card I got for free for the last six years as a home automation machine. It has run 24/7 and I've never had anything fail on it. The os is set to reboot on a power fail and it has probably locked up on me ten times in that period. I've just come from a treo 750 running win mobile to the iphone, and the treo is a mess in comparison. That said, those images have some good points.

I was going for the 650 or 700 with palm OS and got talked out of it by a techie pal. Ugh. Misery. Palm OS is what I use for my datalogger/tuner on my Link ecu in my car and it rocks. That's an eight year old palm and os!

I am just getting ready to ditch my treo 650, probably, for an iphone... With my company discount its only a few more bucks. The sad thing is, even though my treo is from 2005, it can do a few things the iphone cant (Copy/Paste, record video, AVRCP bluetooth w/ a app), and has a nice keyboard, and is really cheap now on ebay. the iphone only trumps it with better storage space, form factor, slicker interface, GPS and 3G. Playing music on the treo sucks though.

+1. I have a Nokia bar phone 30 bucks with the charger. Tough as hell. Few days ago I put it on my lift while I was working on my car, then backed off the lift.... Drove right over the phone. Didn't even crack it. Makes phone calls. Does everything I need it to do.

As someone who actually works for AT&T ... the iphone can go kill itself. The only thing that keeps it competative is that so many freaking people bought it that all realized the only way they could stand using the phone was if they wrote applications for it.

The Iphone will never be worth the REQUIRED 2 year additional $50 a month. There's no way out of it, can't upgrade phones in the typical 18 months. No expandable memory, the list goes on. Compared to other "PDA" devices (which i feel the iphone hardly fits into said catagory) and the prices you pay for said pda services it's trash. By the time you pay $300 dollars for the phone. Then 50 dollars a month for 24 months. Well. now your phone cost you 1500. That's just for the phone, doesn't include regular service or texting.


Mac's I hate. with a passion. Mac just announced their new mac book, which due to mac's great insight does not have a removable battery. WHAT THE ****. People will buy it, which is so sad...kinda like the mac book air. just sad. I hope this trend continues and then they have a battery issue that requires thousands upon thousands of recalls, then people will realize how retarded it is.

I like that Mac changes the nameof computer parts. Like Mother board becomes "Logic board" and all of a sudden it's no big deal when your logic board fails, it's no big deal it doesn't say anything bad about mac reliablity it's just the logic board...happens all the time. right? ....right?

The biggest contradiction any mac user makes is that Mac is some how better for tech savy and know how computer people. and that only the best use mac. Then, in the same breath say how easy it is and that everyone can figure out how to use it.

I already know the answer, but look...it can't be for both. It's either for smart people who actually know jack about computers or retards that need everything "dangerous" hidden.

I had a g3 ibook for four years, then switched to a core2 duo macbook.

In all those years, the only times I've removed the batteries were when I was upgrading the machines' memory or drives.

Non-removable battery? Big deal.

Based on past experience, by the time the battery life starts to become unacceptable, a replacement battery will cost 15-25% of what the whole notebook is worth.

And at that point I just sell the 3-4 year old laptop on ebay and put the proceeds toward a shiny new one.

If you can't manage decent battery lifetime, either start following your manufacturers' charging/usage recommendations or stop buying crap quality notebooks- maybe try an Apple instead?

+1, I have never had to remove a battery other than to add memory. It hasn't been an issue for me, but then agian i get a new laptop every 3 years.

For people who get new laptops it's not a big deal. I've got 2 laptops in my room right now, neither of which I use. One has a cracked screen and is only good when pared with a monitor anyway, it might as well not have a battery, it's just a back up computer. The other the "crap top" is my Megasquirt rig.

For someone who gets a laptop and needs the conveniences of a portable computer but doesn't need to keep it up to date, just working not being able to change the battery is pretty fail.

Like i said, most people especially those who want mac won't see it as a problem and people will buy it anyway, and then mac will continue to do this and people will just not care and it'll become a problem and they'll be screwed. Those people who buy laptops from you on ebay or what not, they might actually be interested in getting replacement batteries, maybe they have a source for cheap ones. if they can't replace the battery they may not be so inclined to buy a laptop that now has 1/4 battery life.

in any case. there are some very scary truths in this.
