Mini Cooper Crash

Splitime 05-05-2010 01:24 PM

It'll buff out.

jeff_man 05-05-2010 01:50 PM

a 2nd mini slide sideways off the same turn and hit the barrier sideways at full speed the next day.

Bond 05-05-2010 01:51 PM

New high score!

Wonder if anyone got hurt. Looks like it plowed right through spectators. n/m, actually watched it with sound. How do you get hit by a fucking car like that. MOVE. You have several seconds to just step to the side in case it does jump the barrier and fence. If you aren't watching the action, or can't react to people probably yelling as it was happening, you shouldn't be there.

Lots of poor planning there.

I can definitely say that if it was me up against the fence with people behind me, to my left and my right, that I might have difficulty getting out of the way. You're simply not going to be able to clear the area with such little warning.

Nice...

I have one of those (red too...) in my showroom at work right now. :D

Vashthestampede 05-05-2010 04:59 PM

SCORE!!!! It landed upright!!!!

FRT_Fun 05-05-2010 05:02 PM

At first I was like oh that's not bad... then it went into the crowd .. yikes.

The people next to me would have to be really fat, otherwise they are getting pushed the fuck out of the way. Under ideal circumstances (was standing at the fence and saw it happening) you can bet your ass I could move a few feet to either side, even if I had to hurdle coolers and old people :giggle:

You clearly have not been a true spectator at a busy event enough times with enough off road action to know how quickly events conspire.
You could easily be watching the racing action to the left or the right of that corner, and next thing you know, WOW there is a car in the sky tumbling towards me. (ive been that close, it in real time to know how it happens).
Your best chance of moving is being up front on the fence watching. Those spectators 15 feet back, hell, were probably partying, drinking not paying a lick of sence to the race.
Racetracks are noisy, distracting places. There is no possible way you can keep track of the motion of all those cars at all times. Those spectators are VERY lucky no one was seriously hurt. I can see a gravel trap coming to that corner, and spectator viewing area moved.

You clearly have not read my post, the one you quoted. Since you didn't, I will again state that "Under ideal circumstances (was standing at the fence and saw it happening)", which means if I was standing there, and was focused on the accident happening, I could most likely figure out that a car was tumbling towards me, maybe I should just move out of the path.

Jesus people, I even intended the original post to be half jokingly and everyone jumps at the chance to sound like they know more than I do about being a spectator at racing events. :loser: Sorry I said anything. I would have no chance, I would be crushed because I'm not competent enough to move out of my chair.

GeneSplicer 05-05-2010 10:52 PM

Quick, a car is hurtling towards you and you have a split chance to react.... what do you do..... what... do you do.. >> WE DIE

Sorry... just a mix of Speed with The Last Star fighter...

Thanks for posting this, saw it on Fox the other night and hadn't had a chance to search. Amazing no spectaters where squished.

Thats scary similar in general terms to what hapened at the 1955 Lemans. A Merc went off and hit the fence. In that case though the car more or less stopped while the engine and trans went into the crowd. Killed about 100 people.

thesnowboarder 05-06-2010 03:16 PM

Scary, makes me happy about the safety gear i have been investing over this past year.

timk 05-09-2010 07:42 AM

That's in my city. It's OK though, the crash was just where all the bogans live.
