How about this air cooled? We had a good time watching him, waiting for it to turn over. Those tires sounded like they were in pain.

The Mercedes beat my time by .31sec. My time is sorta embarrassing when i see it on paper I'm used to being in the top 20, not bottom :brain:

Wow.

Cute that he's got the same car number as the year of the car (that's a '73 Superbeetle, you can tell because it's got the curved windshield but does not have the energy-absorbing bumpers) but classing him in ESP? C'mon, that's just cruel.

I don't hate ACVWs. In fact, I went through that phase years ago. Had a '76 Baja conversion and a '71 Cabrio the same color as that blue 73 car. They have their fun points, but I would never dream of subjecting one to any kind of motorsport that involves paved surfaces.

Actually, if I ever stumble across the right one, I'd likely buy a Karmann Ghia.

There's a local guy that runs his early 60's beetle in SCCA vintage races. Has a 68 VW bus tow and support vehicle. Both are painted classic light blue. The race car has been raced since new. Pretty cool. He's run on a couple of the track days I've done for practice or shakedowns.

Man, he must time his runs down the front straight with a sundial.
