This stuff look better than real cf. I bet if you spray some clear on it it will look even more like real cf. This stuff has dry carbon look. Real cf is way over rated if it's not made for weight reduction. This will look just as stupid as fiberglass overlaid cf.

No I think it looks great, but something like a hardtop in carbon fiber should be real because that IS something you do to shave weight.

If done right and no "ripples" or whatever, you think it will still look cheap? Looks pretty good in pictures.
If you were to not see the ends of it or any fuckups, do you think you would be able to tell from pictures that its fake? Or from looking at it from more than 2 inches away?

 Just stop the bullshit.

I agree for people who have the cash real cf is great for a top but it will cost over a grand easy. This wrap is so realistic it's amazing. 3m made it textured so it has 3d look and feel. It changes color when you look at it from a different direction like real cf. I will take a vid of it tomorrow.

Im sure it'll look good, I have some. This isnt something to argue about though. Just buy it and support the website that supports me as I support them ;)

I'm curious how it would look on a large object. You have tiny little ones covered so its hard to tell what it would look like covering a large area. Do your fuel filler door or barndoors or something lol

I am going to do my fuel door. I ran out of the stuff. I did a grill on my legacy and that took a huge chunk.

looks REALLY good imo

Sam Amporful 11-15-2009 02:44 AM

theres a prosche on that website with the whole top done and it looks good. I just dont think this stuff is miata hardtop worthy. Not saying that it wont work, but it just wont look good on the miatas hardtop

I watched the video with the heat gun trick, so if it sat in the sun for a while would it come off or start peeling ?

Good question, but I think it's got to be way hotter than what the sun will do to it.

Here in Florida I would not be surprised if it were to peel, I just wonder what its outdoor life it like in a non garage parked car.

Its interesting to see, not really much my style but im curious as to what it can put up with when it comes to life in the elements.

Well, this stuff is made for automotive use and 3m gurantee it will last something like 3 years outside on a car. This stuff is very safisticated. People use this wrap on most rally cars. Rally cars are rarely painted and mostly always wraped.

Sam Amporful 11-15-2009 03:05 AM

It'll last about 3 1/2yrs in hot and rainy conditions if applied right

Cspence 11-15-2009 10:04 AM

I've seen this stuff online before and each time I think it looks fantastic...its got me thinking about what I'd like to do....instead of keeping the stripe on my car...maybe I'll wrap my trunklid/spoiler, mirror, windshield surround, and hood/headlight lids in this stuff to go along with the CF HT which should be headed my way in a few weeks and paint the front bumper, rear bumper, and the finishing panel white to get rid of the stripe on those areas. On the hood I might have to put some of that reflective heat shielding tape on the inside since the hood gets hot and could affect the adhesive. Anyone with good photoshop skills that could do a rendering for me :x:
