Brother-in-law's Jetta. This is the guy who married my sister and who I entrust with my Miata when the Army sends me places...

Anyway, he's in the middle of lowering his VW.

Here's how it looked when I saw it last:

And under the knife:

I just dont get the point but part of me appreciates and respects the ingenuity.

But seriously, why?!

kotomile 04-30-2011 01:50 AM

Aesthetics mostly, I guess. It's not like the Jetta is a world class performance car. Meh.

Plus he's Mexican, so it's in his genes.

V dubs lovin' the Mercedes wheels these days.

curly 04-30-2011 06:36 AM

So will it actually raise the wheels off the ground? Looks like it's higher than the frame rails.

kotomile 04-30-2011 06:47 AM

Don't think so, not with bags, anyway. Gravity will simply lower it until the frame touches the ground and it'll stop there. Knowing him, that won't be low enough - on his Nissan truck he ground the pinchwelds off and drug through half of the rocker before some girl rear-ended him hard enough to total it.

redfred18t 04-30-2011 07:47 AM

I feel like I remember that car from vwvortex. I had the same color jetta

I vote for titanium skid plates. white sparks = win.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 04-30-2011 12:27 PM

Disgusting.

Now he just needs a rusty hood and a roof rack.

Bond 04-30-2011 12:34 PM

VW's are gay, do not want...ever.

Stealth97 04-30-2011 02:34 PM

I respect the guys that take it to that level.

You realize the first pic is "before", right?

Updated with progress pics.

astroboy 05-19-2011 01:42 PM

Damn, that strut tower looks like it is going to be in the hood but good work nonetheless.

kotomile 05-20-2011 11:31 AM

Yeah, he's considering what to do about the hood.

BTW - his last project:
