Redline Time Attack + Rain + 250whp = The time of my life!

Race car all cleaned up and ready for a weekend of play:

Will post video of a few laps within the next day or two. I ended up having the most amazing time of my life in my car this weekend. Nothing went wrong with it mechanically, it ran very strong, was a blast to drive in the wet, I learned alot and made alot of great friends. We participated in the BTA (beer time attack)

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...2_798835_n.jpg

both nights, special thanks for the free beer with GST motortsports and the insane impreza L they built. Great times, great people, cant wait to do it again! I was able to participate in the "wheel to wheel" section of redline because of my cage and hans device, it was alot of fun to be on track with some high dollar cars, and not get last :D

Sam Amporful 10-25-2010 02:33 PM

Haha man that sounds like one awesome weekend

viperormiata 10-25-2010 03:09 PM

The car looks great man! Glad you had fun.

Machismo 10-25-2010 04:26 PM

Nice! In for vids! :loser:

Fireindc 10-25-2010 04:30 PM

Awesome pics, +1 for vids. Looks like a blast, and BTA sounds like a good use of an evening.

jasonb 10-25-2010 04:44 PM

that has gotta feel good. throw the thing into crazy conditions and it exceeds expectations. if you go fast enough who needs wipers anyway. +1 on the baller harness connectors albeit too. :D

any problems with foggy windshield?

JasonC SBB 10-25-2010 07:32 PM

RainX and antifog work wonders.

18psi 10-25-2010 10:00 PM

sounds like a blast. cant wait for a vid or two

And morph them into TRmotorpsorts c3ms to. Must have somethin strange in the water up there

Opti 10-26-2010 09:38 PM

Looks like a ton of fun. What tires where you on?

turotufas 10-26-2010 10:21 PM

Prolly had a second set of wheels/tires for the rain.

thesnowboarder 10-27-2010 12:52 AM

As promised:

The silver wheels are a set that i borrowed from a friend. They had just about full tread on them, rs3's. The black wheels have worn nitto nt01s, both were like driving on ice in the rain.

jasonb 10-27-2010 01:01 AM

looks like you have that black lexus on a string. yoyo

i was expecting 4 to be slippy, but 2 looks very slippy even off-line as well and it wasn't even that wet. i guess you got the first rain of the season and all that oil came up. what a ride whew

EDIT: you probalby don't care for stupid comments but it looks like u need more wing in carousel. car didn't look balanced through there...

Gotpsi? 10-27-2010 03:54 AM

How did you like the xr2s in the rain?

hustler 10-27-2010 09:08 AM

The low-end torque from the AF bits makes rain driving very nice.

Braineack 10-27-2010 09:15 AM

stop with the music.

can you please remix it with this:

and then, make the volume like 5% so I can hear the car.

edit: i see the music stopped... good.

Machismo 10-27-2010 09:39 AM

Very nice and good fast hands. He He...:eek3dance

localtech 10-27-2010 10:29 AM

good job on the video. Nice car and driving also.

TurboTim 10-27-2010 11:35 AM

Christ WTF with the music BOOO. I was going to forward the vid to all the typical guys in my company and others like your last video but having to wait thru 4 minutes of that stuff is making me feel ill. I don't want to crop your video to lap 2 :(

Sorry you don't like it, I thought I would throw something over the sound of the motor, which I think gets old fast if your not driving.

jasonb 10-27-2010 02:24 PM

^^ not if yer blood is a gasoline/meth mixture

I don't think it gets old at all. I even listen to videos like that when i'm doing homework or studying.

TurboTim 10-27-2010 02:46 PM

Yeah I minimize the browser playing the youtube and listen sometimes too. I think music during the beginning and as you are getting the car ready, etc, that's all good.

Noted, ill be sure to either turn the music down alot more than I did in this video, or just cut it out completely next time. I have a video of my friend driving the car around with the pit limiter ive been toying with uploading, any interest anyone?

Bald Nitto nt01s on Saturday morning, then 50% tread Nitto nt01s Saturday afternoon. Then Hancook RS3s most of the day on Sunday, this video is of me driving with 50% Nt01s on the car, Sunday for the last event.

southernmx5 10-27-2010 04:08 PM

What? Nobody here likes Radiohead?

SKMetalworks 10-27-2010 10:34 PM

I liked the music, nice touch. Also great driving!

thesnowboarder 10-28-2010 01:12 AM

Thanks! I had a blast, cant wait to get new tires and go on track again.

The car ran so well I didn't even know what to do between sessions. I guess its time to bring a book to read between track sessions.. Didn't think I would see the day!

Trackwhore 10-28-2010 08:14 PM

You got on motoiq.

I was curious about that too. Cobb has nearly nothing to do with a miata.
I'm guessing that has something to do with his scoob and/or they pay him or offer him deals for slapping their sticker on.

They pay RLTA to require each car to wear the windshield banner.

Bryce 10-28-2010 11:53 PM

Excellent video and pictures!

As already stated, I felt that the music in the beginning was a great touch, great choice too, but please make it go away when you start going fast!

This, it's not by choice.

18psi 10-29-2010 01:36 AM

wow. that's fucked up

jasonb 10-29-2010 02:00 AM

if u run scca u have to sticker up also (tirerack). whats the big deal?

nick, correct me if i'm wrong, but i think u got a good amount of track time over 3 days, for what $350?

thesnowboarder 10-29-2010 02:06 AM

Its advertising, RTA gets alot of attention and media coverage so its understandable.

Right, I am not really complaining, just sayin.

My new sponsor took care of most of the entry fees too :D

jasonb 10-29-2010 02:18 AM

opps, my comment came off kinda snarky. didn't mean it.

ya, it is semi-virul advertising since their ads show up everywhere your car shows up (motoiq). congrats.

got any video of u on wets?

It is really wet during this video, however i do have video of me driving in full downpour. I was one of 3 guys to go out during one of my sessions because everyone else "didn't want to"

Seat time is seat time, and seat time in the rain is pretty rare so I took every opportunity I could to learn.

My first laps were in the 2:50 range on Saturday morning. Sunday afternoon down to 2:24 fully wet. Ill scrounge something together for some full downpour driving.

jbrown7815 10-29-2010 01:10 PM

Very cool...

have a copy/pasta of your mod list?

If you're forced to have a banner anyway, why not contact one of the companies on the side to set up some sort of agreement?

PINKO COMMIE ALERT!!!!!111

If you don't like sponsors then go run in NASA TT and not get any national blo coverage. I'd proudly wear the Massengil banner if they decided to bankroll a series I'm competing with.

???? because he's prolly only running 1 or 2 events a year and is peeling the stickers off after the event anyway. read hustler's post for clarification.

nick, nice driving. i like driving in the rain sometimes, but i love feeling the g's and high speeds more. i guess if it's a hpde then i wouldn't care, but if it's a comp. event, i'd rather it be dry.

awesome. i was thinking of video of u on the wet tires instead of the nt01 but i'll take full downpour in lieu anyday. i really enjoy rain driving but i usually avoid wet track days because they always close the track and that kinda blows.

@spoolin i thought in wet races it would be easier to pick off the weak and sickly ones? or is it too easy to get punted off track...

He's getting photographed with those banners on his car and those photos are getting posted on sites that are pretty popular. It's obvious that Redline is using everyone for advertising while they get paid for it. I'm saying he should try to bypass that and get paid himself.

You don't see that?

Oscar 10-30-2010 03:55 AM
