I'm glad for the repost. Hadn't seen that before.

One word...

Miata.net

Unfortunately a lot of those people are my age. I really hope I don't look and sound like that in my car.

Yeah, I hadn't seen it either- and I try to catch most every thing.

Me and my brother came across it and couldn't stop laughing from the beginning. It only gets more comical towards the end, seriously.

The part where the girl tells the story about the old lady feeling "younger" just because she sat in her miata every day mad me :bowrofl:

lordrigamus 11-20-2008 08:03 PM

... of course we're not trying to claim that owning a Miata will make you feel young again but it will make you put on a polo and some comfortable shoes and long for the taste of cock on your lips!:riaa:

At least our Miatas are cool!

johndoe 11-20-2008 08:31 PM

This is what becomes of ricers put out to pasture...

240_to_miata 11-20-2008 10:24 PM

i came from the 240 sceene filled with cliche ricers and entered a world of weird "car people" ... or should i say "miata people." It kinda annoys me how there are very few true car guys who own miatas and too many weird "enthusiasts."

Im not gunna lie, sometimes im ashamed to tell people what i drive. but i still love my miata!

18psi 11-20-2008 10:34 PM

im still getting used to how different the miata "scene" is from my previous subaru scene. with the suby it was all about big turbo, crazy boost, who has the biggest car penis of the bunch lol.. average owner age 18-25.
now with the local miata clubs I've been introduced to, its all like 45+ y/o, going for picnics, like 2-3 out of 20 cars are modded at all. it took me some time to accept that lol..

but I must honestly say, the crowd is way nicer/friendlier...

y8s 11-20-2008 11:09 PM

"zany"?

god motor week is a worthless show.

jayc72 11-20-2008 11:32 PM

What a bunch of homos. And if I had cancer I don't think my only wish would be to own a Miata, my only wish would be to not have cancer anymore.

haha so true...those people are really sad imo.

zoom2zoom 11-21-2008 01:14 AM

Bought my first Miata at age 24, second at 28, 3rd at 30, all turbocharged and I hate most Miata "clubs"!! Their idea of a tech day is changing your oil or brake pads, seemed more like their maxi pad sometimes!

I'll take every handlebar-moustache wearing, whine-and-cheesing, balding middle-aged eclectic motherfucker in the world over the shitstains that own 240s.

As weird as those guys are... at least they appreciate the cars abilities and actually do drive the car as it was meant to be driven. There are much stranger individuals that are attracted to our cars IMO.

cueball1 11-21-2008 12:25 PM

You know we are a bunch of cynical son's-o-biotches when we crap on a bunch of people having fun and enjoying their cars.

Which also happen to be our cars.

To be honest, I enjoy driving a stock miata as much as the turbo. The stock (with cold air and exhaust) is fun and I drive it as hard as I can. The world is a race track, and it doesn't go fast enough to draw attention from the police.

Now the turbo car. MUCH better. But it draws attention. and your moving fast enough for the police to bug you.

But to be honest. There are alot of weird DOE's. If my full intent was a race car, I would of chose a LS1 car. Throw on a SC or turbo and be done. But I wanted MPG in the $4.00/gallon period. And the insurance is cheap.

The car is just fun. It is the closest thing to the handling and fun of a motorcycle. Ane it has A/C and radio for hot days.

jayc72 11-21-2008 02:33 PM

I don't drink the Miata Club kool-aid. It's a car, not a fucking life style.

I find it hard to socialize with people where the only commonality is we all drive the same car (and mostly for completely different reasons). I've been around a lot of different type of car enthusiasts, but Miata people are the strangest bunch of all. I don't think a Miata is a car worthy of worship ... actually that goes for all cars.

That being said while I was in a Miata club I met some decent folks.

I don't know that miata can be a cool bunch, but there's a disproportionately high # of weird motherfuckers. However I think the poser to respectable track driver ratio is much better over here.

5 bucks says that this member has the same IP as another entertaining fellow recently necro-posting in these parts. Anyone?

turotufas 04-09-2010 02:04 PM

The video shows why I stay away from national meets.

Seriously, I couldn't go within 100 miles of one of those events, to hear some one ramble on about how there tonneu cover is soo cool and they bought it a year after they got the car. Then they continue to tell you how there duralast battery was bought last year and still has 2 years of free replacement and their barum tires make it handle like a go kart, because all these cars are is little go karts.

Sparetire 04-09-2010 02:51 PM

A personal favorite was a CL add saying the car had an amazing exshaust from Borja. And high performance snow tires.

cueball1 04-09-2010 03:13 PM

I'm sure the wine and cheese was flowing at Myrtle Beach a couple weeks ago. At least they did have an autoX and HPDE event too.

No, no, no! That was George Takei. I know. I made that mistake once myself. Whew, that little guy sure has a temper.

Here's a pic from the local club:
http://www.clubmiata.net/Images/tofino066.jpg

Only one of them has an intake and exhaust, everyone else is bone stock. They also don't like driving, and prefer rather to eat. I used to lead a run every year which would scare the shit out of at least 2 members. On the second to last year I did it, one lady wouldn't talk to me after. The guy on the very far left is the current club president. He has a MSM, and he won't rev it past 5000rpm for fear of damaging it.

Oh, also,

cool story, bro.

Fuck all of that. Bingo and checkers are not my idea of a miata meet.

Sparetire 04-09-2010 08:00 PM

No wonder these cars seem to be in such good condition for their mileage when we buy them. 5K? Seriously? Welcome to 1962. What a waste/irrational arbitrary driving limitation.
