Allow myself to introduce... myself
Hi Guys,
Steven from Denver here. I have 2 Miata's: A 96 R package, and a 94 R package. The 94 is the track basher, the 96 is squeeky clean and stock with only 69,000 on it.
Both cars are N/A at this point. The 96 is a nice car, I've been driving it lately because I need to do a starter & Brakes on the track basher. I started with track days last April. I'm having a blast at the track with the '94.
No big mods are planned for either car this year. I just need to catch up with maintenance on the track car. (tires, brakes, cooling system, starter) Oh and big *** sways.
Last weekend some buddies and I did ChumpCar at Pikes Peak international raceway (my first ever race). Our race car is a 1988 RX-7. The rotary was toasted, so we fitted a Miata 1.6. During the race, cars were dying left and right. Our happy little car was totally reliable. We were just hoping to finish. We surprised ourselves and managed to finish 6th.
ChumpCar was a total freakin' blast. I can die happy now. Tho, next time we do a true 24 hour race we'll get the big hella headlights for the car. We couldn't see a damed thing at night. Racing blind was...interesting. It was scary but, after 35 minutes I was kinda used to it. Weird the stuff you can get used to...
ChumpCar was big fun. People were nice. It was a great intro to racing. Highly recommended.
We're entering pretty late, but we're going to see if we can do 24 hours of lemons at high plains raceway next month. I'm liking our "MX-7" but, I think a 100% Miata would be more fun to race.
