Hai, My names Alexis and I am a first time Miata owner. I just purchased my red 1990 Miata. I was skeptical because I had a really specific car taste but have had a change of heart and fell in love with it. She's all stock at the moment, got her quite clean for the right price. Now I'm saving up to "stance" her out the way I want to.

latena 05-01-2013 12:52 AM

We don't stance much over here. You would want ClubRoadster for all that. We are more turbo and performance oriented. But welcome. Beware the leg humpers.

FRT_Fun 05-01-2013 12:59 AM

Yeaaaaa not exactly the right website. Well this is the right website if you want your car to be awesome. But if you want "stance" clubroadster is more that crowd.

/leg hump or whatever

Pen2_the_penguin 05-01-2013 03:02 AM

Stance is the chode word for "broken."

You think having a lowered car with stretched tires and copious amount of camber is all fun, wait until you take the first corner or hit your first pot hole.

But like FRT said; this is the place if you want your car to be f**king awesome.

Clubroadster is full of swag yolos.

buffon01 05-01-2013 03:17 AM

For a second I thought this was going to be another girl with a fast nice turbo Miata... then you said this

Welcome to the forum :sadwavey:

nitrodann 05-01-2013 04:40 AM

Lol, I bet this is a troll post from an OG member here trying to see your reaction, which is FAR different than normal because she says she is a she.

psreynol 05-01-2013 05:27 AM

my car came with Stance coilovers but I would love to sell them.

I also have custom upper rear control arms so you can go real low but have the proper camber. I would love to sell this stuff so make me an offer.

supercooper 05-01-2013 07:22 AM

That meetata is in Purdy good shape for being 23. Lol
Do you have any make it go fast plans???
Welcome!

MelodyMiata 05-01-2013 07:46 AM

Well see, she has plans to go fast but. Im just not exactly in control of that. My man had a terribly fast miata (or at least I thought it was terribly fast) and is going to put mine together in the sense of speed for me and then teach me how to do it myself. So just yet I have more or less no idea what im doing, to be quite frank about it. I myself as a car person, mostly know visuals and style modifications. I just didn't want to seem like some girl who thought she knew what she was talking about.

Basically, I'm here to learn. Because this originally wasn't my sorta thing. But, I'd like it to be.

P.s. when I said "stance" I only meant coilovers and wheels, and I got my mind on the thought of lip and fender flares. But only thoughts so far. I don't like the super crazy, lets put our oil pan on the ground and see sparks stuff. Not my cup of tea.

Ryan_G 05-01-2013 08:10 AM

Welcome! You're not too far from me. Keep it classy when you modify it. Nothing ages faster than rice.

aaronc7 05-01-2013 08:17 AM

Welcome. Any pics of this other 'terribly fast' Miata?

Alexandria3293 05-01-2013 08:35 AM

Nice to see anther girl on here. Welcome :)

You're sorta jumping into the deep end of the pool here on Miataturbo; and assuming that you're not a gearhead, will likely find that the technical discussions are a bit over your head. Also, as earlier posters have mentioned, the focus of this forum is *serious* performance, not Hard Parking.

There are a number of other forums which might be more useful to you in becoming more familiar with your new car. Miata.net is an excellent resource for basic technical and maintenance issues, pretty rigorously moderated and generally welcoming of new owners, and tolerant of uninformed questions.

ClubRoadster is, well... Let's just say it is more "modification" oriented, with a focus on Hard Parking, slammed suspensions, and that sort of thing. The "signal to noise ratio" over there is pretty high and plenty of Mouth Breathers exhibiting their symptoms, but if "stance" is your thing, that's the place for you.

That having been said, if wringing the most possible power out of your car by way of forced induction, programmable ECU's, and internal engine mods, or if you intend to prepare your car for track use, or even just want a street car that handles correctly, and value these things over appearance mods, you've come to the right place. MiataTurbo is populated by some of the most knowledgeable and experienced people you'll ever meet; I own a car dealership and a restoration/fabrication shop and I learn something new every day from these cats. You definitely should do some research before asking questions; I always try to answer my own question in advance and then phrase the question as "this is what I think I should be doing, am I mistaken?". I also lurked here for a long time just trying to absorb enough baseline knowledge to not ask Idiot Questions once I started my turbo car project.

Best of luck with your new car, I hope you enjoy it.

Woah, Ouch. I and the peoples cars I photograph quite enjoy it. I'm sorry you don't fancy it.

Don't mind Brainey- he's still grumpy about the failure of James Harris' 1996 presidential bid under the Socialist Workers Party.

That and I dont like when people spend the time to make a snap-shot look worse than when it started in an effort to be hip on the internet and impress a bunch of sub-terranian mole people with no concept of what reality looks like as they've never traveled outside their lair known as "mom's basement."

I'd like to defend myself, though I feel as though it'll be a useless attempt. I enjoy photographing cars, it's kinda been my thing for awhile. I'll admit I'm not interesting. But jeez. I try my best at the very least.
Enjoy the rest of my "crappy snap shots". Cars - a set on Flickr

That's a real nice golf cart, man. >.>

18psi 05-01-2013 11:52 AM

Don't mind him. He went way more bonkers in my build thread lol

Braineack 05-01-2013 11:56 AM

I enjoy photgraphing cars too.

I also enjoy not ruining photographs by masterbatinging on the toolbar in photoshop and ending up with a shitty final result that looks retarded and like a 3 year old went to town on it with a 64-count box of crayola crayons; the one with the sharpener on it.

There ya go. Completely unedited.

18psi 05-01-2013 12:08 PM

you should post up some blurry cell phone pics for him too

he loves those

Braineack 05-01-2013 12:10 PM

I'd rather a blurry cell phone photo (non-instragrammed) than some of the post processing I've seen.

the above photo is MUCH better.

Anyways, i just creeped through the rest of your Flickr. Those pictures are a bit better, but there's lots of use of white mask/layer.

Which... i find i don't hate, but some others may cry foul. :P

Exposure is wonky on many, and i see some flare/instaghey filters as well. ;)

Examples:

Not TERRIBLE, but still pretty hipster.

As a counterpoint... what the hell was going on with this? My eyes.
