Ebay ヤギの強姦犯 from ABQ

Hello miataturbo.net!

I just spend about 15 minutes typing up an epic introduction thread, and then... BLACKOUT! So Here goes try number 2?

So, David's the name, Miata is the game. I've got an '01 NB that I bought about half a year ago, and I've been steadily modding it with some big plans for the future, and decided it was about time to introduce myself to the community

So here's what all I've got done so far to her:

Tein Street Advance coilovers
Eibach rear sway bar
Hard Dog double diagonal roll bar
A/C and P/S delete
Cheap Spectre intake and straight piped exhaust
Custom made hood (cut some vents and put in aluminum mesh)
Just primered it white a couple days ago to prep it for some upcoming body work (no pics yet unfortunately)

I've also ordered a MegaSquirt 2 (ordered from BEGi, built by... some company overseas, idk the details), as well as a set of NoPro flares... patiently awaiting the arrival of both.

Here's some pictures from No Coast Drift Party 2013 at Napa Speedway in ABQ:

And here's a link to some picture that I've taken since I got it if you wanna see how it's evolved: Linky

I hope to be active on the forum in the near future, but for now I'll likely just browse and suck up as much info as I can

Looks like a Sideways Good Time.

Welcome to the forum. Wish I'd known that you were looking for Nopro's- I have a set in the storage barn, brand new in their box from Taka Kiara in Japan; I'd have cut you a deal on them.

You're probably going to get some crap from the "Flares suck / Drifting sucks" crowd here, just take it with a grain of salt. Anything other than an NB with a ball bearing turbo and 6ULs gets Mad Hate, we're sort of xenophobic like that. Ignore that crap and you'll find this place to be an amazing repository of knowledge, and mostly populated by nice folks.

Trollin' hard
I threw it on there just to see what kind of reactions I'd get... was surprised at how many people said they actually liked it, lmao. I cut it off after the drift event though... it was extremely annoying seeing it in the rearview... not to mention it made it extremely loud inside the car.

I'm fine with the haters.

Should've cut your wrists instead just for associating with "drift".
All in all, welcome. Good luck with the learning process.

Welcome to the forum.

You look to be sitting a little high in the car relative the rollbar. It might be time to get a Kirkey bolted down to the floor to get underneath the protective structure. I'm a big proponent of rollbar padding for a street driven car, too. If your car gets rear-ended, your noggin can crack like an egg without much effort.

Good luck in your search for knowledge. It is in here.

You're right, that's a great idea... think I might just do that.
You think I should go with the old fashion "across the wrists" method, or should I go lengthwise down my arm?

Seats are definitely pretty high on my list for just that reason. I haven't been TOO worried about it though, cuz I don't do autoX (or at least, I haven't done it YET)... if I get hit at a drift event, it'll likely be from the side
The only reason I've been hesitant with the padding is that I plan on getting a hard top, and am worried about clearance issues. I've been hoping to meet someone in the area that'd let me borrow their hard top to test and see how much room I have, but no luck yet.

As far as seats go, do you know if Corbeau makes quality stuff? I was looking at getting a pair of their FX1s... along with a couple sets of harnesses

Thanks for the welcomes, guys.

Corbeau seats are decent. I like the FX1 Pros, myself, because i'm not fat.

Their brackets sit kinda high, though, which would be problematic for you.

The padding that Bethania sells, only covers the front part of the bar. My hard top fits no problem.

I've got Kirkeys bolted to the floor. Don't know about others.

Could I use a different seat rail, or will one from other companies not line up? I've never put in an aftermarket seat before

The Kirkeys are a pretty good deal as far as price goes, but I'd like to get something with a little more padding since I do use the car as a DD for the time being. I guess I'm not really opposed to bolting the the Corbeaus right to the floor, so that's always an option if I can't find a rail that'd be low enough.

It's not spelled right either. The "i" should be a "ni". I don't have the capability to do it on this computer but the hiragana should be ko-n-ni-chi-wa.
