Default Alright FINE

Finally made the decision to keep the miata. So here I am, greetings denizens.

Have a '99 NB that I originally used for solo racing for 2 years that I bought 5 years ago. I was a student and was also using it as a daily driver. It eventually came to a point where I couldn't afford to do that anymore so I just kinda drove it for another year and half before I got a job and bought a 2019 Civic and a house. I've been waffling on keeping the miata or selling it and putting the money towards crap for the house. Well I'm bored so car it is the house stuff can wait. I've got some old turbo crap from abandoned 240z dreams: Holset HX35W, turbosmart bov and waste gate of ... large sizes that will most likely be getting replaced with something a bit smaller (32mm bov and compgate40 with a 7 lb spring in it). The plan is MS2PNP and get used to tuning on the N/A motor. Meanwhile I'll be over building a second motor on the bench for mild boost, piecing together all the piping and bits and bobs I need to actually install a turbo in the thing, AND hopefully not ******* it all up with a little help from the folks here.
Crusty boi

Updated Goals(will continue to update as I make progress):
Goals
1. MS pnp of some flavor probably ms3pnppro need to look at ms labs stuff per dnmakinsons suggestion:
Research then just buy the damned thing. As well as research an asston on what you need to get started with this. DO NOT JUST TURN THE ******* THING ON AFTER YOU PLUG IT IN AND START DIDDLING WITH IT.
2. Turbo setup:

Intercooler
Intercooler piping
turbo manifold
downpipe
research if I need any random sensor bungs or anything for this
wideband?
oil routing for turbo cooling
heat shields?
Fuel system stuff? Do I need bigger injectors and a new fuel pump/whateverthefuckelsethisentails
I don't know what else do I need to turbo this thing. ******* dumb doublespacingass
3. Engine refresh/build?:
Determine if you need to just refresh the motor or if a full rebuild is necessary.
Compression test.
are my coils good? do I need better coils?
I don't know man I've never actually built/rebuilt a motor before.

4. Wiring cleanup:
Already have most of the stuff I need for this and I used to do this for a living soo....
I think the only real thing of note here is trying to find schematics to see if there's anything I'm missing from a physical inspection.
Also good god I need to take some pictures of some of my wiring harness cause it's a mess right now.
OH ALSO rc battery mod cause it looks sweet ala https://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep...9/#post1453433
Bought everything for this except for the actual batteries so far but that's cause broke for the week....
**** a stereo and everything related to one.
5. Cooling stuff/reroute/heater core delete:
water cooling routing?
New radiator cause stock radiator is super thin.
https://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep...-thread-79930/ great thread.
various shrouds and whatnot
would rather not hood vent but yeah might have to if I ever want to do pdx or any other racing longer than solo/autox.
undertray replacement from dingus last owner butchering the thing.

6. Suspension/brakes:
I know this is listed last but this will happen sooner rather than later the main goal for right now is to actually do the turbo nonsense tho.
I don't know corner balancing need to grab some scales. cause this is actually fairly easy once I have them.
new coilovers cause I'm pretty sure mine are oem and like 10+ years old.
Bracing?
cage? am I ever going to be in any events that require a full cage or am I good enough with my hard dog.
is stock brake booster good enough?
Already have steal braided brake lines floating around somewhere.
Do I need to swap over to new sway bar in the rear as well. Do research on street performance/larger course performance as opposed to solo performance.
Spring rates?
Decent wheels that aren't *****. probably 949 6ul. Do research on appropriate width/offset for performance expectations.
I already like federal rr tires as they're fairly cheap and actually halfway decent for what they are despite their ***** treadware rating for solo class requirements REEEEEEEEE. Actually wait what the **** is the rs-pro......
I don't know man aero? do I even actually want aero I kinda like looking stock.

That BP4W is a good platform to build on. What second motor are you building?

Also a BP-4W. I just wanna be able to dork around with the car at the same time as I'm building and having a spare motor never hurt. And worst case comes to worst I can sell off the motor I pull from the car.

I'll never understand everyone's infatuation with the MS2 when the MSpro is available. Another $360 gets you a lot.

For whatever reason I have distinct memory during my initial research into ms stuff (including the ms family thread) that the ms3 pro was something to be avoided. I'm now upon looking all this crap up again not able to find a damned thing to support that idea. Yeah, will be going with the ms3propnp. Not really sure what the hell was going on with my brain there.

Well, MS3 is a good answer. I would also suggest you look at MS Lab's line of MS-3 as well, for a range of options.

Because the miata community attracts a lot of cheap people
