Default Baylor Driving Club Introduction

Hey Y'all,

I am the president of the Baylor University Driving Club and we recently entered the Grassroots 2010 Challenge. We will be building a 1995 Mx5 and I wanted to be sure and get acquainted with a couple of solid online communities in case we need help. We are already registered with Miata.net as well.

Information on the grassroots challenge can be found here: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/events/2010-challenge/

Our build thread can be found here: http://www.baylordrivingclub.com/for...ead.php?t=7365

We hope to increase performance with a turbo set up, as well as increasing suspension with springs and sways.

Feel free to ask any questions or provide any advice you may have! I just wanted to introduce our organization and our project.

We will be posting up some for sale items from the part out ASAP.

Thanks y'all!

Welcome...to what should be an annual stomping amongst the University teams by A&M.

Jk, good luck. I'd be happy to help out with anyone's Grassroots/LeMons car.

Lol, we had no idea what we were walking into until we heard from TAMU that they had a turbo 6cyl and Georgia Tech has a blown v8!

We're happy to just stick our foot in the door and thanks for your offer.

The best thing you could do starting off is read the FAQ thread in this forum. Lots of good info for the guys who are getting started thinking about turbo. Good luck.

If you're going with boost on this thing I have an intercooler and piping setup (with BOV) I'll let go real cheap in the name of enthusiast comradery. I'll only be in College Station for another 2 weeks though, and you can't tell any of the Aggies you run into that I did this.

Small world, I used to work for Baylor, for Dr. Weisman (looks like hes still there) in the net neonatology section. I was in IT and supported doctors and researchers at several hospital, but my office was physically at TCH.

You've really dived into the deep end. FYI that panel next to the drainage hole you drilled can be popped free with a chisel to drain water into the frame rail and then out, I had to do that on mine during some heavy rain.

Whats the project with the dash?

That's awesome man! Let me get with the rest of the team and see what they are feeling, look for a PM from me or another BDC member real soon man!

Lol, as soon as I can get to the 10 thread count, then I'll post up our FS thread which has a TON of stuff

Nice! I don't personally know Dr. Weisman, but Sic 'Em anyhow! One of our members used to work for the ITS department here on campus as well. Always nice to hear from another Baylor car guy!

Yup, unfortunately we pulled those the day after that anyway. Oh well, live and learn. We originally pulled the dash to pull all of the heating and A/C systems and such, but we hope to re-finish the dash for the concourse part of the competition.

Thank's for the responses y'all!

It'll be good to see another school group at challenge. I've been there the last 2yrs with a group of buddies.

Might go again this year if I get my own car ready... but its alot of work and I'm under motivated.

Welcome, looks like I’ll be seeing you in Florida this October for the challenge. I wish the car I started with was that clean. I’m not an expert on turbo Miatas but I am a cheap bastard so if you have any build questions or looking to cheap out on something I’d be more then happy to help. Also feel free go through some of my build pics below for some ideas.
