I'm on the tallish side (6'2"), and have never really understood the hoopla about roll-bars. Always figured that if I flipped a Miata I was going to be dead regardless.

Neither - we had been touge driving for an hour beforehand (needless to say, his Miata was SPANKING my Mustang), but we were just driving normally when this happened.
It was just a super sharp corner with no shoulder and gravel leading into a ditch. Proof positive that the tiniest miscalculation can ruin the whole day.
