Default First-time caller/Long-time listener...

While I've been reading forum posts for quite a while this is my first actual post. A little info on my car:

This is 1 of 3 Miatas I've owned over the years and the first I've turbo'd. I bought my white 92 B-package in early 2003 and installed a new Greddy kit immediately. After a short-lived attempt with a Greddy Emanage I took the hit and ordered a Mk2 Link full ecu from FM and haven't looked back.

After suffering through cooling issues a Koyo 37mm and custom oil cooler were installed. Being a conservative type, I added a CoolingMist water injection kit to add a safety-buffer for long track sessions. The fmic is from a Starion and uses Jim Bobowski's pipes with a Bailey bov. An 11-row oil cooler and Mobil 1 seem to keep things lubed and cool.

A Bowser heat shield, ETD short-runner manifold, RacingMazda downpipe, custom 2.5" exhaust and LC-1 wideband rounded out the engine bay and various dyno visits yield between 200 and 225 depending on which map is loaded. Typically I run 12 psi on street tune and 14-15psi for track/hillclimbs.

The LSD is a clutch-type 4.10 from a RX7 thats been shimmed to roadracing specs. Suspension-wise I'm running Tokico Illuminas and 550/325 Ground Control with stock sways. The brakes were bumped up to 1.8 and I run Hawk Blues in the front and Blacks in the rear for tracks and HP+ for hillclimbs and autocross. I use Axxis Ultimates for street use. Yes I have 3 sets of rotors!

I also swap in a Kirkey ProDrag seat with rear support for track/Time Trial duty along with the required 5 pt harness. Other safety equipment includes a FireCharger aqueous foam fire system with a port for the engine bay and a port for me.

The car has a current SCCA logbook for Time/Track Trials, and is daily driven often with an "economy" map loaded that bypasses the ebc and runs wastegate pressure and reduced timing and nets me over 29mpg. With air conditioning!! Yep, power steering, air conditioning and full interior.

I haven't been to the dragway in a couple of years but the last time I ran it made 14.4, 2.1rt at 97mph. This was around 12psi on street tires.

The car and short block have around 175,000 miles, and at time of turbo install I pulled the head and had valvestem seals installed.

The newest toy is one I highly recommend for those of you who run track events: a TraqMate data acquisition system. It provides invaluable info and is just damn neat.

Lurking on this forum has been interesting, and I'm starting to get the itch for a bigger turbo...

After almost a year of crushing NOOB's, persistance pays off with first posts like these. I think I'll go have a drink.

Oh yah... PICs man, where are the PICs. Post pics of car or wife, your choice. And when I come back from having a drink, your location better be in your profile.

Jatow -

Welcome aboard.

Where 'bouts in B'ham are you? My Mom's family is psuedo-originally from there. (They moved there from Atlanta when she was 5...) Many still remain in the area.

Funny story:

The Vulcan statue (largest iron statue in the world) is on a ridge overlooking Birmingham. Behind him is the city of Homewood. In 1999 they removed him for renovation, and when they remounted him he was rotated ~30 degrees, thus showing Homewood the "other" cheek!

Not to knock on such a good post. But if you would run regular pressure on the street tires, I'm sure you would of been in the 13's.

FWIW Slicks hook up better on low pressure. but radials have to have full pressure for the tire to fully use all the tread.

But it appears you go to the road coarse anyway. Nice setup!

Welcome aboard!

The 12psi I mentioned was boost target, not tire pressure. Tires were at normal pressure.
