First Time Poster - Long Time Reader

I am in Joplin Missouri, USA. We got a Kraken kit and installed over Christmas break. Been working through some tuning issues, mostly with idle. We think new Bosch injector settings are off but then we developed a little knock so we shut the project down while we look into it more.
My son's Auto Tech teacher listened to the engine and said the sound was coming from the top end but it resembles rod knock. The noise is present at idle and goes away at around 3,000 rpm. I suspected something with the VVT was not right but we forgot to disable and test that theory before taking the valve cover off. Currently the valve cover is off and I am waiting on shims to fix lash gaps that were to tight. We also had oil leaking from the valve cover gasket and oil fill cap that was missing a washer. Presumably this was from boost and the stock PCV did not handle it well. We only hit 7 psi but that is all we wanted for now to stay safe.
Anyway, probably going to be a week or two before it's back together and we try in again. For now stock injectors are back in as we had a tune for them on the Megasquirt that ran fine.
