Default Future Turbo Miata

Hi everyone, I've been reading the forum a lot lately after deciding I was going to buy a miata as a project car to turbocharge. I orginally wanted to go with a 94 but got a great deal on a 97 m-edition. My first goal within the next year and a half is to hit between 275-300whp, currently looking at a BEGI system with a 3071 and the very long term goal is to make this a 10 second car.

Your first goal should be to ditch the style bar and put a legit roll bar in. 10 second car? Better beef up the trans/ block/ chassis stiffness/ rear dif/ have $10,000 laying around.

I plan on replacing the style bar when doing the turbo system and the long term goal I'm planning to be within 5 years from now and I'll be able to afford to make it into that by then.

Miatas don't really make good drag cars, even with big power. It's going to take a lot of work to hit that arbitrary goal.

One of clubmates was pushing 350 whp. It broke into the 11s in the 1/4. I think 10s is unrealistic. A Nissan GTR did only 10.9 and that over 500 hp.

You're going to need a diff swap and a quicktime bellhousing with a Jerico/Muncie/etc.
You'll also need different hubs with larger axle spline diameters.

And you'll need a few cubic dollars.

10,000 for a consistent 10 second miata? Try 30,000 if you want it to last more than a few passes.

But guys it makes me feel really cool to say "I'm building a 10-second Miata!"

A BEGi setup on your 1.8 won't get you there. The chassis is a huge holdup in getting that kind of ET as others have said.

Why not go for a trap speed goal, like, say you want to hit 115 mph or something? That's more realistic.

Fastest turbo miata
This is the only sub 10 second miata i know (though it is sub 9 even) like every body else is saying, set more realistic goals. I already been put through the ringer twice setting uninformed goals, like making a miata in Utah on a mustang dyno put out numbers like one on a dynojet in California, doesn't happen. Get informed, set the goals, then have at it

I have a turbo setup from Artech with a 4" exhaust that should make enough power to put you into the 10's.

Miatas are wonderful road course cars. Why not enjoy it for 30 minutes at a time instead of 10 seconds at a time?

It's doable. This guy pulls 10s everywhere and no boost.
