I don't really mind but every little bit helps when the turbo cat's eye is on you.

At least I don't talk like a ghetto person. My grammar and punctuation could be a million times worse. Never knew this was English class, in that case I will write proper sentences. Just for you.

I can never understand why people always use that comment: " I didn't know this was English class".

Like, do you walk into a bank, attorneys office, or a job interview and communicate like a complete and utter moron BECAUSE IT'S NOT ENGLISH CLASS??

I'm not even going to get into this. I have no interest in arguing or talking about punctuation and grammar.

You don't have to argue it, but we'll probably point it out anyways.

Exactly - its not an argument. Its a statement of fact not up for debate.

Don't do it for me because I don't care and if I did my opinion is inconsequential. As you may have noticed, there are others who do and life will be easier if they are appeased. The goal is to sound as smart as possible since the standard here can sometimes be higher than English class lol.

Honestly you'll be fine. Your writing is fully sane and comprehensible and it has been form the start. Just dress it up all pretty with caps, commas, and periods. This is the best way to extract information from this wonderfully knowledge rich and morally abhorrent website.

Well thank you for the pointer and teaching me that it is highly frowned upon to use horrible grammar and punctuation. I have learned my lesson.

Entertaining thread, although most of it is rambling off topic because there is a new female here. I wonder how many comments it would have if "GIRL" was omitted form the title. Anyway welcome!

It would probably have been a longer thread if it was in the DIY turbo section and the OP asked about what ebay supercharger kit works the best and if he will need to run a 5th injector.

True, but for a welcome thread it's alot in a short time frame. My friend joined and his welcome thread consisted of Brain's welcome spam and that's it. :gtfo:

Ha. My first posts were in a thread where I was buying a used MP62 and had questions.

Asking intelligent questions and communicating in an adult manner do a lot to alleviate the piling on most newbies get. The fact that the OP is still here speaks volumes.

Probably a lot, since people would be berating the OP since "who's a new miata owner from LINY" isn't a sentence or a very good title for a meet-n-greet thread.

I'm not one to back down from the internet of people sitting behind computers or their phone typing half of the crazy comments. I'd love to hear them say it to my face, I am sure most wouldn't. On a brighter note, I am still HERE!

Next time I will put "A girl who is a new owner of a miata in L.I.NY." I could have always posted the title as "90' miata newbie, what what!"

To be honest, at this point I can't think about anything other than "Oh, God. I wonder if she pronounces the name 'Long Island' correctly, or if the 'g' winds up getting detached from 'lon' and transposed onto the beginning of 'guyland'."

That's really about the only pet peeve I have about living here in the city.

chriscar 10-10-2013 09:01 PM

Long Islanders do not say Long Guyland - that's a myth.

One of my co-workers here in the WPIX engineering dept is a lady who comes from LI, and I can assure you that she most certainly pronounces it as Lon-GUYland. Marisa Tomei herself could not mutilate the words any more horribly.

chriscar 10-10-2013 09:20 PM

Mmmmmm, Marissa Tomei.

I am not from Long Island, I lived in Pennsylvania all my life until 2 years ago when I moved to the island, no Long Island/New York accent for me.

No, it is not a myth. I live on the island and Perez lives in the city, I hear it all the time. You should hear how they say balls "meatbwalllz" instead of meatball.

That is the problem Chris. You are unaware of your own accent. Nobody is until people with other obnoxious accents make fun of you.

Haha, so very true. When I lived in SoCal, we had a sort of informal drinking club which we called The Bar Association at the apartment complex where I lived. Our membership was extremely diverse, and the accents ranged from coastal surfer dude to upstate NY to Leeds UK to southeastern US. It was almost hilarious how every single person in the group was convinced that every other person had a strange accent.

In for Vine of you saying "meatbwallz" the correct way.

Also: why does L.I. get periods but NY does not? And don't use the state abbreviation excuse because you didn't include a comma.

Maybe it's because I'm a soft-hearted Cubs fan, but I wouldn't wish Giants fandom on my worst enemy this season.

But I can't say I'm unhappy the Giants are doing so poorly, as Eli Manning is by far the most comedic loser in all of sports.

I want to feel bad for him but I can't stop laughing.

I really don't give a shit how much the team sucks, I just want people to watch them sucking on PIX11. This is the first year we've gotten to carry three NFL games in a season, and believe me, the money is gooooooooooooood. :D
