I rolled my Miata out of storage and I am going to revive it. It has been sitting for about 7 years, so I am about to start bringing it back to life.

I was a previous forum member and look forward to tapping into the knowledge these forums contain.

That's what I call a "resurrection"...
Change all the fluids/filters.
Clean the gas tank and new fuel.
Light it off and run until problems show up.
Fix problems.
Lather. rinse, repeat...
The longer it has sat, the more "repeat" you get to do.
7 years is a long time to be down.

What year, mods does your car have now?

I have a 1994 Laguna Blue R pkg. The biggest one is frame rail and butterfly brace. I have a lot of shelf stock to put on and a list of mods, too. I stopped driving it because the shocks were getting tired, 150K miles. My plan is to do what you recommended and refresh the bushing, replace the shocks and upgrade the brakes.

I have a AEM ecu, which I picked up years ago, but looking around, it may not have been a good purchase. I am trying to decide on which MS to pick up 2 or 3.

Big plans, so little time!

These shocks will be the "ticket" for street cars

If you're staying NA a MS2 or 3 will work fine.
For a serious boosted car the way to go is a MS3X IMO

These are slightly more expensive, are completely plug and play, and have a higher re-sale value down the road.

DIY also has even simpler systems that should work fine for a NA (naturally aspirated) application. This would also work OK with boosted without many features of the above unit.

You will also need larger injectors.
